sadc output to a circular file of given size?
...y useful to us for what it does. However, it is hard coded to poll systems at 5 minute intervals, which of course proves not to be so useful when you have to dig down into more detail on something. What we typically do for load tests where we need more detail, is run this command : /usr/lib64/sa/sadc -d -I -F 2 /var/log/foo/bar Which of course logs data every 2 seconds. We now have a problem with our PostgreSQL server and want to set something up to record sadc data more frequently than the 1 minute limitation of cron. Though 2 seconds is probably a bit much, we are thinking more like 5 or...

Debugging system load - How to start?
Hi, we run an "old" mailserver system which was set up a couple of years ago. The systme dose "everything" what we need(ed). Over the last days I noticed an unnormal increase of the system load up to 10 and lots of users told me that there mailclient connections (sending and receiving) are dropped from time to time. kernel bug ?
...ug. Here are the symptoms: 1) kswapd1 running at 100%, there are not much paging 2) when i logged in, root can't kill -9 ANY processes 3) memory is used up, swap is probably only used up for couple hundred MBs at most (Swap space has couple Gig available) I saw in the logs: kernel: INFO: task sadc:23936 blocked for more than 120 seconds. kernel: "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message. Annoyingly, I failed to reproduce the issues. I tried to reproduce it with the "stress" software package, using up CPU, memory, etc. But I failed to re...

I reboot the master, replication resumes just fine, but the /data filesystem doesn't get automounted til I manually mount it. -- john r pierce, recycling bits in santa cruz
