[nut-Feature Requests][310492] Allow to specify hostnames in ACL (upsd.conf)
...ll have to poke a hole in it anyway, to allow incoming
connections in.
Bottomline is, that I think the ACL's are obsolete and can better be
replaced by kernel packet filtering rules and/or the LISTEN directive.
This will surely reduce the burden of setting up the 'upsd' server,
without sacrifying security (adding additional DNS queries for incoming
connection will only amplify the effectiveness of DOS attacks, so that is
another reason why this feature request is not a good idea).
Therefor, I would like to suggest to remove the ACL code from the server
and change the default LISTEN addr...

Swap size
Hi All,
This is out of the topic question, but I''m hoping that you can help me. If for
example I''m going to install a Fedora 4 64-bit with 8 to 12 Gig of physical
memory, how much swap file of directory do I need to create?
Thank you very much,
Wennie

Multiple imputations : wicked dataset ? Wicked computers ? Am I cursed ? (or stupid ?)
...ive !
Visual/manual/graphical examination of my dataset does not suggest an
explanation.
I am not aware of anything "fishy" in my setup (one of the machines is a
bit aging, but the one used for the reported tests is almost new.
Could someone offer an explanation ? Or must I recourse to sacrifying a
black goat at midnight next new moon ?
Any hint will be appreciated (and by the way, next new moon is in about
3 days...).

high memory utilzation
Hi
I have a server running samba process and there
are about 70 samba users connected at a time. The system has 4Gb of
memory and it seems each samba process is utilizing only 3352Kb of
memory.
When I run the command
pmap -d (pid of samba)
It gives as:
b7ffa000 4 rw-s- 0000000000000000 0fd:00003 messages.tdb
bfe46000 1768 rw--- 00000000bfe46000 000:00000 [ stack ]

Reasons to Use R
Dear All,
The institute I work for is organizing an internal workshop for High
Performance Computing (HPC).
I am planning to attend it and talk a bit about fluid dynamics, but
there is also quite a lot of interest devoted to data post-processing
and management of huge data sets.
A lot of people are interested in image processing/pattern recognition
and statistic applied to geography/ecology, but I

Maximum likelihood estimate of bivariate vonmises-weibulldistribution
Thanks Dimitris!!! That's much clearer now. Still have a lot of work to
do this weekend to understand every bit but your code will prove very
useful.
Cheers,
Aziz
