XP start menu
Hello everyone! I have Sabma 3 as PDC on a SuSE 10.1. 1) Using XP Pro I can log the domain but once inside I don't have anything in the start menu nor if I explicitly tell Windows to put in. I.e. I cannot insert MSN icon in start menu nor using right click. 2) Another problem is that on every directory, also on desktop,...

samba with customized ldap backend
I have to assume much, I'll try. So... - No AD, that's some NT4 domain. - No Winbind because Winbind is using samacccountname as user login and not UID. - Issue happens on Linux or UNIX clients. The question is what tool (SSSD, pam_ldap / nss_ldap, nslcd...) are you using to retrieve information from LDAP to forge users on system side. Once you get an answer to this previous question

Samba w/AD auth on AIX, w/o local users
Hi all, I have Sabma v3.6.0 installed on an AIX 6.1 machine (oslevel 6100-07-02). The packages come courtesy of Bill Jojo's pware repository (thanks, Bill! Was going insane trying to satisfy dependencies...). I have joined the host to the AD domain and can authenticate myself against Windows 2008 AD (using AD...

Samba client behaviour during a fault condition? (PR#778)

Essentially, if a PC (or net > connection) dies and doesn't gracefully terminate its net > connections, how does the sabma server behave? It notices the connection is dead and closes down the connection cleanly. > One more thing, if one of our clients connects to the service using > "\\servername\service" syntax, then the connection never reconnects > after a samba server reboot. Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
...-libraries=NONE > # --builtin-libraries=NONE 258a259 > I will report this to the Gentoo team so they can perhaps investigate on how to fix Samba using system-wide Heimdal. Many many thanks to the people involved here helping me to debug the issue. I have learned a lot about Sabma internals and perhaps this is helpful for others too. I still don't know exactly what goes wrong as the complete Samba build of Gentoo works fine and the logs don't show something which is obviously wrong. With best regards, Rainer

samba with customized ldap backend
...; - Issue happens on Linux or UNIX clients. On both client I am using sssd and pam_ldap for user retrival and modified pam_login_attribute (pam_ldap.conf file) to username instead of uid (by default value) so I am very well able to authenticate with many services like ssh, smtp auth etc but in sabma case it is trying to contact uid='numeric value' instead of username=test1. I think somewhere in configuration, we may define username attribute instead of uid which is samba configured. NT profiles on samba server
...directory \%U.pds on samba server, and copy a fresh profile. After I read Luke's mail two weeks ago, I changed group ownership and permission. When profiles on NT server, "administartor" has full control on profile subdirectories. So, I set up "administrator" on UNIX (sabma server) and set up group "ntadmin" including "administartor". Now, all sundirectories have 770 permission. But, it still does not work. Can you please help me ? Thank you very much. --Miao Ye System administrator Dept of Math & CS Loyola university Chicago abel# n...

Error joining Samba 4.7.4 DC to existing Win2008R2 domain
...g became uppercase. I'm attaching the correct log below, sorry for the confusion. Anyway I've already tried either -U"SAMDOM.LOCAL\Administrator", -U"SAMDOM\Administrator" and -U Administrator and all of them fail with the same result. Additional info: before testing Sabma 4.7.4, I've tested to join previous Samba version server (Ubuntu 17.10, Samba 4.6.7) and it worked. Here's the new log (with case-preserved replacement), together with other required files: ========================================= root at srvad-new:~# samba-tool domain join samdom.loca...

Error joining Samba 4.7.4 DC to existing Win2008R2 domain
Can you specify the full DN of the DNS record in question? Afterwards, maybe you can also try deleting that DNS record and retry the join? Failed to find machine account is almost certainly an unrelated debug message. I don't think it has any relation to your issue.
