A guide to R packages for Ubuntu
As per a request, here is a brief guide to what is available to R users as packages in Ubuntu. Each release of Ubuntu includes the latest version of R and the recommended packages. In addition, there are approximately 80 additional r-cran packages available in the default repositories. The limitation to these packages is that they are not updated and reflect the current version of the

In a find, can''t you use both :include and :limit ?
I''m trying to do a find that includes a join. It has to be a find because I''m using the results for a Pagination, so I need to limit my query to the number of results I want to display per page. Here''s the type of thing I want to do: Employee table <-> Skills_Employees table <-> Skills table Let''s say I want to find all the employees who have

Patch for #3438: Eager loading doesn''t respect :order of associations
Hello all, I still have a patch for #3438 (eager loading doesn''t respect association orders); it passes all unit tests, and has additional unit tests with full coverage. The patch is attached. == The Bug == Author.find(1).posts != Author.find(1, :include => [:posts]).posts if Author has_many :posts, :order => anything. This means that either one must avoid eager loading or

"LAPACK routine DGESDD gave error code -12" with Debian (PR#2822)
Dear All, Under Debian GNU/Linux La.svd (with method = "dgesdd") sometimes gives the error "Error in La.svd(data, nu = 0, nv = min(nrow, ncol), method = "dgesdd") : LAPACK routine DGESDD gave error code -12" It seems not to depend on the data per se, but on the relationship between numbers of rows and columns. For example, if the number of columns is 100,

important caveat with Rsync on NT and dayligt savings time
Hi, just a small warning about something that has, like we experienced just last weekend, great consequences. We rsync more than 20 Netware servers through a mapping on an NT machine to central Rsync destination servers (also NT). Last weekend our clock changed to Daylight Savings Time. It appears that NT changes the file stamps on NTFS volumes accordingly (Q129574 on their suppor site). This

valgrind complains about regex.c (PR#8043)
I think I am using objects according to the man page. This seems to be a valid regular expression. But whether I know what I'm doing or no, it still shouldn't be doing what valgrind seems to be saying it's doing. Newsgroup
This morning I had 37 messages from the r-help list in my mailbox. I think its becoming excessive for an e-mail list. I wonder if whoever looks after this list could either move or gateway it to a usenet group? That would also eliminate the need for special purpose archiving and searching facilities since the site: http://groups.google.com would automatically provide that. That site also
