Some Problems with vt on new intel S5000PSL Board (chipset i5000P)
...o my own suprise, the just a bit newer changeset 9762 is working. Later on I also tested xen-unstable (11224) which also seems to work. But there are still some problems, that I am not able to fix on my own, which seems to have something to do with the fact that this is quite a new intel board (S5000PSL) with intel 5000P chipset. If I use xen-testing (9762) I have these problems: If I configure a xen vm for a windows system with more than 1GB RAM (for example 1,5GB or 2GB) of RAM, then I can start the domain with "xm create" but it doesn''t really starts, even if I get the s...

Problems with power management
I do not seem to be able to get any where with the power management functions. I have had a look at the xenpm Wiki page, but it hasn''t helped. Its probably something completely obvious, but I can''t see it. I running Xen 3.4.0 on Centos 5.3 x86_64 using the gitco RPMs on an Intel S5000PSL motherboard with 2 x Xeon 5410s. Dom0 is running the latest Centos 5.3 kernel. My xm dmesg output is below followed by the output that I get from the xenpm get* commands, which isn''t much. ============================================ [root@b52 ~]# xm dmesg __ __ _____ _ _...

Nice chassis for ZFS server
Hi, I just came across this box [0] (McKay Creek). Seems to be exceptional building material for ZFS based NAS/iSCSI unit. I especially liked the two extra system disks hidden inside the box ! Any one have an experience with these ? [0] http://www.intel.com/design/servers/storage/ssr212mc2 -- Regards, Cyril

zfs, raidz, spare and jbod
Hi. I installed solaris express developer edition (b79) on a supermicro quad-core harpertown E5405 with 8 GB ram and two internal sata-drives. I installed solaris onto one of the internal drives. I added an areca arc-1680 sas-controller and configured it in jbod-mode. I attached an external sas-cabinet with 16 sas-drives 1 TB (931 binary GB). I created a raidz2-pool with ten disks and one spare.
