CentOS and Intel S5000PAL NIC problem
Hello,
- I have posted this to the Rocks Clusters discussion list, I will try here too. I have problems installing Rocks 4.1 and 4.2 Beta, which is based on CentOS 4.3 on Intel S5000PAL server board. My guess is that the installion requires "10/100/1000 Intel? 82563EB PHYs supporting Intel? I/O Acceleration Technology" to be fully up. However, the included e1000 module seems to be not the latest and does not fit the mentioned NIC. Intel publishes driver sources. My quest...

Installing a CentOS based distro with Raid driver - Citrix XenServer
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to install a XenServer on a server (ref:S5000PAL)
http://www.intel.com/products/server/motherboards/s5000pal/s5000pal-overview.htm
The installation failed because of lack of Raid driver, I found this out
because I tried to install XenServer
without raid and it worked great.
I tried so many drivers, I don't know what to do
I tried also this...

This seems to happen in the CPU detection stage.
This is a Quad-Core, Dual CPU system currently running with 4Gb of RAM with
a Intel S5000PAL server motherboard. I have tried tweaking around the APIC
options to be bigsmp to no help at all. I am kind of at a loss right now as
to how to progress. I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest revision to no
avail also.
Here is a full failed boot log:

...r.
I managed it to install Centos4 with driver disk for my RAID controller.
Unfortunately after "yum update" my kernel is updated and I see some

The server I am installing on is Intel S5000PAL
http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/s5000pal/ and the
drivers are version 07.15.0209.2007 on

Not able to run kernel-xen with megasr module :/
I've managed to install CentOS 5.1 on S5000PAL
with fakeraid Intel Embedded Raid Technology II
Raid1 (LSI chipset) with some help of kickstart
declaration 'driverdisk --source=http://.../driver.img'
Then I've had some problems with yum update - new kernel
didn't know about megasr.ko. I've solved it with commands:
cd /lib/m...

settings up cheap a NAS / SAN server, is it possible?
Hi all
I want to look at setting up a simple / cheap SAN / NAS server using
normal PIV motherboard, 2GB (or even more) RAM, Core 2 Duo CPU (probably
a Intel 6700 / 6750 / 6800) & some SATA HDD's (4 or 6x 320GB - 750GB).
My budget is limited, so I can't afford a pre-built NAS device.
Can this be done with CentOS? I've been looking FreeNAS (which is built
on FreeBSD), and it
