Crossover cable for E1 ?
I'm looking to connect a BMC 450 to an asterisk with a Digium Quad E1 card.
Am I right in thinking that I'll need a special 'crossover-E1' RJ45 cable?
If so, any clues where I might buy one in the UK? The Digium card sellers don't seem to
stock such a thing.
Thanks.
Tim.

Run Sweave and LaTeX directly from command line
Hello!
Those of you, who use Sweave a lot, will probably find my shell script
usable. You can get it at:

No warranty, however don't hesitate to contact me if you find an error or
have a patch!

Is there a function in R that is an equivalent of zoom in matlab? This is
very useful for being able to magnify details in a plot.
I have searched the help for "zoom", "interactive zooming", and "magnify".

How to? Set boot up display resolution
I have been given a replacement monitor for my CentOS-6.3 KVM test
platform. It is an LG E2251 22in letterbox format screen whereas the
unit it replaces was a 17" standard format display. The console
messages now look as through they were output on Silly Putty.
The display itself displays a message to set the resolution to 1920 x
1080. I have found references to using the vga option in

Looks like 3.8 is not ready to download
This is just a heads up that 3.8 does not look ready to download.
There are 3.8 files at the CentOS mirrors, but the files (including the
iso images) are constantly changing or disappearing. It looks like
the hard-working diligent CentOS workers are making some last minute
changes before getting CentOS 3.8 out the door. I presume that
there will be a posting made to this list when 3.8 is

OT: Avoiding harddisk failure due to mobility
Hi All,
I need some advice on finding a solution to this problem . I have a hard
disk mounted on a mobile robot. I am using ext3 fs. The hard disk is
subjected to several bumps as the robot travels. I am experiencing
frequent hard disk failure ( about once a month). I have thought about
2 different solutions to this problem. I would appreciate any tips on
evaluating them

special language character in a pie chart
Dear List Members,
I am working on a below piece of code: Initially have created pie
charts with Enlish labels to present the data for Czech Republic, now
however I need to print the label with original Czech fonts.
When I copy paste from Word, certain fonts get 'simplified' distorting
original spelling. How can solve this problem? Is there a package I
can download which will support

Camping and sessions proposal.
Hi Campers,
from the discussions gathered around, the current Camping sessions
don''t seem to be satisfying. ActiveRecord doesn''t seem to handle
hashid as an identifier, plus it doesn''t seem to be fully consistent
across the various RDBMS. On the other hand, the scope of the project
does not permit to implement all kind of client persistence. Secure

em(4) + ALTQ broken
I'm having problems getting PF + ALTQ to work on em(4) interfaces under
8.0-RELEASE. Kernel was rebuilt with the additional options necessary for
ALTQ and what not. Same basic configuration works fine under 7.2-RELEASE.
Basically, the queues create successfully but running a pfctl -vsq shows a
zero packet/byte count for all queues, even the interface's root queues.
This same problem is

Does Samba/Winbind not follow nested groups in AD?!?
Here's the situation: We have users who are members of groups and those
groups are sometimes members of a 2nd level of groups. If a folder has
permissions assigned to a 2nd level group, then the user can not access
the share. Doing a "getent group | grep user | grep 2nd_level_group"
also returns nothing. Samba seems to not be recognizing that a user is
a member of a group under

[RFC] High-Level Code-Review Documentation Update
Yeah, +1 that people from the same organization are sometimes the only ones
working on a certain feature/area. (certainly I'd expect some discussion
about the feature in general to be discussed outside that group if it's in
any way contentious - but some stuff's clear enough (I think I implemented

Sending Emails via Cron
I''m developing an application using RoR that will generate enough email
notifications that I don''t want them in the actual web application. So, I''m
thinking about having an outgoing queue that a cron job would pick up and
deliver. My question is if this is possible with a ruby script that uses
ActiveRecord and ActiveMailer?

password stuff
Greetings All:
I hope everyone had a fun Halloween weekend (I carved 4 big
pumpkins and gave out a bucket full of rubber eyeballs and stuff).
I'm hoping somebody can explain the password behavior I've been
seeing (and a couple of other things). Here's my setup:
An isolated LAN (most clients have modems for dialling out) with
one linux/samba machine (RedHat 4.2, kernel 2.0.30,

Noise Cancellation of Server Noise
Has anyone come across a device that could cancel out the noise from servers, ie. the fan noise? I have a server rack near my office and would like to see if i can decrease the noise level. It would seem to me that the steady drone of the fans could be cancelled out to a large extent.

I added Domain = ourdomain to /etc/idpmapd.conf, and restarted rpc-idmapd,
then autofs. And nfslock, for good measure.
