Integrated RTL8168/8111 NIC not assigned interface
I'm running 7.0-RELEASE-i386 on Jetway's NC92-N230 mainboard. The board has
one integrated RTL8168/8111 gigabit NIC as well as an expansion board with
three RTL8168/8111 NICs. Why would the three NICs work while the onboard NIC
does not?

Adding a kernel module to the ISO/installer initrd?
Greetings list!
Because of the sheer number of box (re)installations we do that have a CentOS base, I've converted our provisioning process to PXE. However, I've found that an alarming number of motherboards are coming with the Realtek RTL8168 ethernet controller onboard. When the system boots, it cannot find an ethernet controller and the installer process hangs.
I made a new initrd from a running system that was installed via CD and had the kernel module installed afterwards. However, when using the new initrd to PXE boot a new box, i...

Realtek 8111GR on C7
Hi list,
I'm planning to buy a mobo (z170-K) that has Realtek 8111GR (nic).
I've tried to search on google about support on C7 but can't fine anything.
There is a way to check if supported?
Is the Realtek 8111GR supported or I must change mobo?
Thanks in advance.

FreeBSD 6.3-stable and if_re - stability problems?
...@kg-vm.kg4.no:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/SMP amd64
The machine has an if_re interface:
root@kg-vm# pciconf -lv | grep -B 4 network

vendor = 'Realtek Semiconductor'
device = 'RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC'
class = network
It looks like the interface works, because it gets the ip
address and other dhcp parameters right. But when I try to pass traffic
over it, trsffic often just stops. Examples: ping by ip address,
csup'ing the ports. also ssh connecti...

current state of pxelinux for UEFI...
...never ask for the
config file, as specified in the pxelinux.configfile option.
The two motherboards I've tested so far, may have common
denominators, in that the UEFI codebase is an AMI APTIO 64bit and the
HW-specific lower layers of the PXE stack consist of a UEFI driver by
Realtek (some RTL8168/8169 hardware).
For a moment I hesitated "well maybe the syslinux.efi, at the moment
of waking up on the diskless target, doesn't get the option pointing
to the config file"? But no, that's not the problem either.
I noticed the explanation in the PXELINUX wiki entry, that

motherboard for cents 6.3
Seems like overnight every motherboard that worked with linux has
DROPPED off
the face of the earth.
Every motherboard I looked at is using the realtek 8111 chipset and a
northbridge
that is not supported.
Example: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3, does not work with linux
I tried disabling the onboard NIC and using a PCI-E intel card I always use
and that would not work either. The north or south bridge

Dear gentlemen,
I think I'd better start another thread for this...
thanks to Ady Ady and Gregory Lee Bartholomew for their responses to
my early question.
Just for the record, my fresh experience with PXElinux 6.x follows:
syslinux.efi version 6.03 does boot to the extent that it shows a
prompt, but if I provide it with a CFG file containing several

ridiculous slow gigabit transfer, faster with VNC
Hi,
I have a problem with file transfers between a windows systems and unix systems.
I have one win32 desktop (intel e6400 2Gb Ram), one win32 laptop (p-m 2Ghz).
Also one linux laptop (p-m 1.4GHz) and one opensolaris desktop (intel
e4400 1GB Ram).
The two laptops have built-in 100Mbit ethernet and desktops have 1Gbit
ethernet on the motherboard. Both desktops use a Marvell Yukon.
The file
