R-beta: R on NT
I'm having trouble with R on NT. Sept 1 97 version 50 in file rsept works fine, except I can't boost the memory - either with the menu or with DOS command Rsept -v50 In fact, if I run in DOS command mode (no shortcut) I get NT error window: errno 1411. But then R runs. With rseptbeta and rsept31 versions, R starts for a millisecond and then disappears. I...

R-beta: help in rsept
Is it possible to get information on libraries or data sets in R for windows? E.g. under Unix I would type ?library(whatever)... I have made some simple functions for teaching and spent hours writing the documentation for my students who now may not even be able to read it... aarghh Apologies if this is a FAQ, couldn't find anything on it in the archives. Please let me know about other enhancements you want.... robert =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=...

R-beta: help ((message first bounced because of subject -- your admin.))
The help file provided within the rsept.zip is somewhat outdated compared to the one available on http://www.stat.math.ethz.ch/R/manual/; would it be possible to update the file for a more easy download instead of having either to download individually or going online ? R-beta: executable problem
I downloaded the rseptbeta.zip and exe.zip files for Windows (I'm running Win 95 4.00.950a) about three weeks ago and until now had been very impressed. Today the executable rsept.exe (dated 10/29/97) went strange. It would open a window and immediately close the window (I've seen this before when inadverte...

R-alpha: Re: Extensions .R and .Rd (in base/funs/ and base/man/ )
...e these days I just want to put my 2 cents worth in on this topic. It is looking like a real pain to translate the current set of html files to this format which means that there is going to be some real work required in getting a 3.11 version going. On a related note I really have started on the RSept and have postscript functioning (once again big changes will be needed to get it to fly under 3.11 so it'll be a Win95 version first). Getting dll's going is the next trick I'm going to try. robert =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- r-devel...

Intro notes (1st pass, not for general circ.)
I've just gotten through translating my notes for the course in basic statistics for health researchers. I've placed a copy on ftp://blueberry.kubism.ku.dk/priv/R-intro.tgz This is essentially a translation of the Danish notes that I wrote during the Autumn of 1997 for use with Rsept, i.e. roughly R v.50. They lean heavily on the textbook, Altman: Practical Statistics for Medical Research. Chapman and Hall, 1991. For now, this is mainly for information purposes and not for further redistribution. I haven't yet investigated the possibilities of getting it published as a rea...

R-beta: scripting with R?
I've been playing with R for a while using emacs ESS. I've started to like it a lot ( the beautiful S language was unknown to me before I dumped into R) I want to make some scripts to automate the display of some statistics on web pages. I started to look for ways of using R in a scripting environment but I could not find information on this. Is there a way to call R with command prompt

If everything (including docs) built properly (and you do not want to apply patches in the future), you can safely do rm -rf src to free disk space. 2.5.2. How Can R Be Installed (Windows) The file `rsept.zip' from the `bin/ms-windows' directory of a CRAN site contains a binary Windows 95 distribution for R which should be about a 0.50a4 release (plus a few features from 0.60). This version is quite limited in Windows-specific features, although it has been reported to work rather n...
