rpmstrap/rpmbootstrap to boostrap CentOS 5
Hi,
Is there any working script, similar to deboostrap, for CentOS 5?
I have found rpmstrap [1] at RPMforge.. but only works for CentOS-4, and
appears that's out of date.
thanks!

updated rpmstrap script
hello,
I just upgraded the rpmstrap script for CentOS 4.2. As I don't have any
x86_64 machines I just upgraded the i386 section. Some of the version
numbers are changed and there were some new package requirements.
The file is attached. Overwrite the original file under
/usr/lib/rpmstrap/scripts and itt will work again.

rpmstrap & CentOS 4, feedback requested
...-based distributions. The intent of such a tool is to be able to
bootstrap a basic working RPM-based system (I use it primarily for
creating chroots for cross-distro development and testing, but it could
also be used for simple installs or even upgrade and dep-closure tests).
It's called "rpmstrap" and it currently works "pretty well" with
i[3456]86 versions of Fedora Core 2, Fedora Core 3, and CentOS 4. You
can get it here:
http://hackers.progeny.com/~sam/rpmstrap/
QND instructions on using it to build a basic CentOS 4 chroot can be
found here:

install it?

Centos 5.1 DomU on Debian Etch Dom0
Hi Centos users
I successfully installed a Centos 5.1 DomU on Debian Etch Dom0. I used
the virtual file systems from Jailtime[0]
How to this manual (without using Jailtime)? I wish to install from
Scratch. Xen-tools/rpmstrap doesn't work for me.
cheers
Simon

Fedora, SuSE, Gentoo, Slackware as domU
...to use some other distributions other than Debian as a Xen domU.
These distributions are:
- Fedora Core 7
- Opensuse 10.2
- Gentoo 2007.0
- Slackware 11.0
- Ubuntu 6.06.1 Server
- Ubuntu 7.04 Server
- Centos 5.0
- Mandriva 2007
Could you tell me a way to install it as domU, please?
I searched for rpmstrap, but it supports only Fedora Core 4 and Centos 4...
Could you help me, please?
Thank you very much!
Bye.

xen-tools v1.5
...e mention
they have used my "xen-tools" scripts to create Debian Xen instances.
Recently I released version 1.5, both as a tarball [1], and also as
a package in Debian''s unstable distribution.[2]
This now allows the creation of CentOS4 images via the use of the
''rpmstrap'' command.
I figured this might be interesting to people running Xen hosts.
Xen-tools is undergoing some work to allow it to more easily be used
to create and manipulate non-Debian distributions and this work will
eventually live at http://xen-tools.org/.

new user - new issues
Just installed Xen 3 on FC5
that all went smooth following:
http://www.fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraXenQuickstart
I want to however create a FC4 virtual machine -
I attepmpted to use the image at: http://jailtime.org
but it doesnt seem to work (networking fail, most else works great) --
I am thinking that it is because those are for Xen 2 (??)
So, is there another place to get images for Xen 3?

ideal xen setup?
Various linux distros come with xen supported after a fashion
with xen patches developed for one kernel hacked into the
kernel they want to use (with varying degrees of success :-).
We''ve been using xen for a while at work to try and provide
development and testing platforms for a slew of different
linux distros to check out our software under lots of
different conditions.
