OpenSSH + PADL pam_ldap.so + password aging
...such file or
directory
>bash-2.03$
So the password change is being forced, but some of the prompts from
pam_ldap are being lost. I'm not sure where to go from here, so any help or
guidance is appreciated. Please keep me on the CC list as I am not

Thank You,

Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine publishes Samba art icle.
I got mcp mag a day or two ago, Great writeup!!
I was a little surprised that they ran such a glowing review of samba,
with some of the negative implications on NT. It is very nice to see
Microsoft show an interest in interoperability.

winbind on AIX
...ayer,
which doesn't exist on AIX?
I've tried both 2.2.8 and3-alpha22 with pretty similar results. I can
configure and run winbindd, wbinfo works, but smbd won't authenticate NT
users unless they map to existing Unix users already in the passwd file.
Any guidance is appreciated,
Steve Roylance
P.S.- A couple minor issues w/ 3-alpha22
SWAT's http authentication doesn't seem to work correctly in 3-alpha22.
I input a WINS server IP address and set WINS mode to 'client of another
WINS server' on the wizard pane in swat. After I committed the changes the
WINS server textbox...

Help with "Updating Gem Source Index"
After hearing so much about RoR over the last few months, I finally
decided to give it a try. I decided to follow the "Rolling with Ruby on
Rails" article on ONLamp.com to get up and running.
Unfortunately, since that fateful decision, I have run into nothing but
obstacles.
First, I downloaded and installed Ruby. That was my last success event.
Then, I typed "gem install

Streaming Speex over RTP
I am a brand new user of Speex, so forgive my naivety.
I am receiving an audio stream (PCM) which I need to encode in Speex, send it across a wire via RTP, and then decode and play the audio on the other side. I assume people have done this before, and I was wondering if anyone had any sample code of how they accomplished this. Or maybe just some good pointers or advice.
Thanks

Decoded data all 0s
I am encoding and decoding a stream of data. The data comes in in 320 byte packets, these are encoded and I get back 38 from the speex_bits_write method. I am under the impression that this means 38 bytes got written to my output buffer.
The data to this point looks fine, but when I put the data through the decoder all the bytes come out as 0.
So my first question is why is this happening, and

PermitRootLogin issues
Hello,
I'm currently experiencing the issue laid out in this thread from last year:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=openssh-unix-dev&m=106908815129641&w=2
The discussion that ensued resulted in a number of ideas on how best to
'fix' this issue. The two that seemed most reasonable were:
1. implement a pubkey-only option to PermitRootLogin that would only
allow root to login

Winbind/nsswitch issue on Solaris 9 (Sparc)
Hi all
I need to set up Samba on Solaris 9 (Sparc) as a Windows Domain Member.
I took the precompiled 64-bit Package
(samba-2.2.8a-1-sol8-suncc-64bit.pkg) from samba.org, which comes with
pam-winbind libraries, and it installed fine.
I ran a test before with Samba 2.2.8 on Solaris 8 (Intel), but there I
compiled myself with ./configure --with-winbind --with-pam --with-quotas

performance problem with windows 2003 client
I've run into an odd (at least to me) performance issue between a samba
server and windows 2003. The windows side is w2k3 w/ SP2 on an HP DL585
with HP EVA SAN storage. Linux is CentOS 5 on a Sun X4200 with samba
package samba-3.0.25b-1.el5_1.4and a FUSE mounted filesystem
(glusterFS). Watching the network tab of task manager while pulling a
few large files from the samba server to the
