Rosner's test
My second request of the day, sorry to be such a bother. Can you tell me whether Rosner's test for outliers is available in any of the R packages and, if so, which one? I've tried but I can't find it. Thank you very much, Bob Powell

Log rank test power calculations
Does anyone have any ideas how I could do a power calculation for a log rank test. I would like to know what the suggested sample sizes would be to pick a difference when the control to active are in a ratio of 80% to 20%. grubbs.test
...s or when the sample size increases and test again whether there are any outliers. This process is repeated until there are no more data points to add to the sample. Is it valid to use the grubbs.test in this way? If not, are there any tests out there that might be appropriate for this situation? Rosner's test required that I have at least 25 data points which I don't have. Thank you in advance for any help. Dave

Unconditionally transfer files
Is there a way to make rsync unconditionally transfer files, i.e. create them anew even if the target already exists and is identical to the source ? rsync -I looks closer but still avoids transferring the files. -- Andr? Majorel http://www.teaser.fr/~amajorel/

Default for bin limits in hist()
...and upper limits for bins in applied statistics, and I suggest that you consider making it the default for hist(). For example, I generated the following frequency distribution for duration of hospitalization with a script in R specifying the cuts to be ?right = FALSE? (from an exercise in Bernard Rosner?s Fundamentals of Biostatistics book). number % [0,5) 5 0.20 [5,10) 12 0.48 [10,15) 6 0.24 [15,20) 1 0.04 [20,25) 0 0.00 [25,30] 1 0.04 The actual boundaries for each bin are:...

what's interesting to plot after predict.lm?
Dear all, I've fitted this model with train data lms <- lm(vd ~ log(v1) + fv2+ fv5+ fv7 ) and predicted over test data using plms <- predict.lm(lmsub, new=test, interval="predict", level=0.95,se.fit=TRUE) I've two questions: q1: what's the difference between writing interval "predict" or "confidence" ? How are they computed? Any

OT: A test with dependent samples.
I am appealing to the general collective wisdom of this list in respect of a statistics (rather than R) question. This question comes to me from a friend who is a veterinary oncologist. In a study that she is writing up there were 73 cats who were treated with a drug called piroxicam. None of the cats were observed to be subject to vomiting prior to treatment; 12 of the cats were subject to

Rails Masters'' debugging techniques -> Rails Recipes?
Hi, This msg for Chad Fowler or anyone who fits the subject line. I bought the Recipes book and really like the way it has been progressing. There is one subject I''d like to see explored in detail. Having come from Assembly and C background I find that a ''must have'' tool in your collection is the debugger. I find debugging a Rails App the most thorny issue inversely
