Greyed text in the background of a plot
Hi!
Is there any way of having a greyed ("ghosted") text
(i.e, 2006) in the background of a plot?
I'm making a dynamic plot and would like to show the
year of each time step as a big greyed text in the background.
(the idea comes from Hans Rosling video:

)
Thanks
Agus

Examples of advanced data visualization
Dear R-help,
I am looking for ideas and presentations of new and advanced data visualization
methods. As an example of what I am searching for, the 'Many Eyes' pages at
http://manyeyes.alphaworks.ibm.com/manyeyes/
may provide a good paradigm. I would be interested even if it will not be easy
to implement such examples in R, e.g. because of the interactive nature of these

R graphics device for flash apps
Byron,
I just read your blog (statcomp.blogspot.com, linked from your other
post) and rand across your idea of an R/Flash graphics device. I've also
been giving this some thought because of this amazing interactive flash app:
http://tools.google.com/gapminder
and others from http://www.gapminder.org/.
I would love more than anything to work on this. The only hitch is that
I'm so

3D plot of following data
Hello R-experts,
I am having difficulties with 3D plotting (i.e. the evolution of various forward curves through time).
I have two comma seperated files both ordered by date (in the first column) one containing contracts (meaning forward delivery months from YEAR_ & Letter "F" ... January through letter "Z" ... December) and the other holding the closing price of the
