calculate correlation effect size using contrast analysis for an omnibus Chi-square test statistic
I am looking for an R package with which one can calculate an effect size for a set of contrasts given an omnibus chi-square test statistic (more than 1 degree of freedom). Is there such a package? Presumably, it would implement the procedure (or something like it) described by Roznow and Rosenthal 1996 Psychological Methods 1: 331-340. many thanks! RE: Comparison of correlation coefficients - Details
...ion, it gives me some other options to display the different correlation coefficients. One possibility is the use of Funnel plots, which are even available in library(rmeta). Another possibility is the use of forest-plots, as implemented in rmeta as metaplot. Sorrowly, rmeta does not include the Rosenthal-Rubin method or the Hunter-Schmidt method, as described in "Meta-Analysis of Correlations", see: http://www.sussex.ac.uk/Users/andyf/teaching/pg/meta.pdf Probably, the best solution for me may be to modify metaplot for the Hunter-Schmidt method. BTW, the manual to the program Meta-An...

remote password change, if password is expired
Hi, we have a couple of users which "forget" to change the passwords even if they get an reminder. Normally we tell them to use a windows machine, where you can change your password if it's expired. But how can a remote user change his password if it's expired ? Is there any secure solution for thisĀ  ? -- Bye, Peer

Xorg problem
I updated to Centos 6.8. Every thing is working, except Xorg does not startup. When I look at top, it seems that Xorg keeps trying but not succeeding to start. Any idea what the problem might be? Thanks Shoshana Rosenthal srosenthal at cfa.harvard.edu

changing samba user password
Looking for a good, and secure, way to have users in a Samba AD environment be able to change their passwords without using a Windows domain member client or having local user or shell access to the AD system. Web based would probably be ideal, but I don't want some huge set of modules that do everything under the sun, just this one task. Possible? With what? Thanks! Chris
