Weird internaldate behavior with 1.0-test80 and mbox folder
...the rest of North America.)
I have distilled this into a degenerate case of a single folder with
a single message and can reproduce. As mentioned, I am running 1.0-test80.
My platform is AIX 5.1.
I created the test by sending a message to myself using
date | mail -s "Test at $(date)" roma at uiuc.edu
and using my MUA (Mulberry) to file it into the test folder, which
defaults to mbx format in UW's namespace. Here's what UW shows
when I select/fetch the "original" message:

[survey] R for Reporting - the R Output MAnager (ROMA) project
Hi R UseRs,
I am interested in providing Reporting abilities to R and have initiated a
project called R Output MAnager (ROMA).
My starting point was my R2HTML package which provides (rough) HTML
exportations. I began with trying to mimic it for LaTeX but fastly did
realize that it was a bad idea.
Thus, I started again from scratch a new package and did spend a lot of
time reading about this topic, looking at what othe...

ROMA project (R Output MAnager) / Progress report / Call for contributors
Hello useRs,
This email is about the ROMA project, the implementation in pure S of a
reporting system for R. Several month ago, I did then send on R-help a
survey on that (mainly: what features did you expect for a reporting
system). During the following months, I did try different approaches for
the core functionalities, ending now with a...

WinXP-SP1 breaks profiles...
Just thought you'd like to know that SP1 for Windows XP breaks romaing
profiles up to and including 2.2.5.
This has been confirmed by MIT at the following link:
http://web.mit.edu/swrt/winxp/
See the section "Software Compatiblity Test Matix/Testing SP1"
We have found this to be the case as well....
I'm cross-posting this to samba-technical as...

maximum likelihood method to fit a model
...function and log link.
I have read in the help page that the default method used by R is "glm.fit" (iteratively reweighted least squares, IWLS).
Is it possible to use maximum likelihood method?

Merge: how can I keep discarded values?
...I would like to save the non-matching rows
in a separate file.
The problem is how to retrieve the non-matching rows in R.
Example:
DATASET A
code nomi
A1 Franco
A2 Mario
A3 Andrea
A4 Sandro
A5 Luca
DATASET B
code book
A1 Guerra e Pace
A1 Storia di Roma
A2 La coscienza di Zeno
A4 Ivanhoe
A1 I Malavoglia
A2 Jude the obscure
when merging two rows are unmatched:
A3 Andrea
A5 Luca
And these are exactly the rows I would like to store in a separate
file/dataset.
I tried with:
AM<-merge(A,B,all=TRUE)
A1<-A...

S3/S4 classes performance comparison
...on Rhelp about reporting, you may have seen that
I am implementing a way to handle outputs for R (mainly target output
destinations: xHTML and TeX).
In fact: I does have something that works for basic objects, entirely done
with S4 classes, with the results visible at:
http://www.stat.ucl.ac.be/ROMA/sample.htm
http://www.stat.ucl.ac.be/ROMA/sample.pdf
To achieve this goal, I do use intermediary objects that would reprensent
the structure of the output. Thus I defined classes for Vector, Tables,
Rows, Cells, Sections, and so on. Most of those structure are recursive.
Then, at a firts attemps...
