[Rscript] difficulty passing named arguments from commandline
Wanting a commandline solution (for a problem detailed @
http://mailman.unidata.ucar.edu/mailing_lists/archives/netcdfgroup/2012/msg00279.html
) I turned to Rscript, and whacked out the q'n'd
https://github.com/TomRoche/GEIA_to_netCDF/blob/master/netCDF.stats.to.stdout.r
However it wasn't as quick as hoped, because I spent quite a bit of time
figuring out how to pass the arguments. This works (note the quoting):
$ Rscript ./netCDF.stats.to.stdout.r 'netcdf.fp="./GEIA_N2O_oceanic.nc"' '...

R2WinBUGS: Data loading error
Hi R-Help!
I am trying to use R2WinBUGS but I get the following error message in WinBUGS
(and there must be something wrong with my R statement as I tried it directly in
WinBUGS and it worked):
display(log)
check(C:/Documents and Settings/Daikon/Roche/pop_model.txt)
model is syntactically correct
data(C:/Documents and Settings/Daikon/Roche/data.txt)
expected key word structure
compile(7)
...(and of course nothing works after that)
and when I close WinBUGS i get:
Error in file(file, "r") : unable to open connection

jbod questions
Folks,
We are in the process of purchasing new san/s that our mail server
runs on (JES3). We have moved our mailstores to zfs and continue to
have checksum errors -- they are corrected but this improves on the
ufs inode errors that require system shutdown and fsck.
So, I am recommending that we buy small jbods, do raidz2 and let zfs
handle the raiding of these boxes. As we need more

ZFS Evil Tuning Guide
Tuning should not be done in general and Best practices
should be followed.
So get very much acquainted with this first :
http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/ZFS_Best_Practices_Guide
Then if you must, this could soothe or sting :
http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/ZFS_Evil_Tuning_Guide
So drive carefully.

existing performance data for on-disk dedup?
Hello. I am looking to see if performance data exists for on-disk
dedup. I am currently in the process of setting up some tests based on
input from Roch, but before I get started, thought I''d ask here.
Thanks for the help,
Janice

Rsync snapshot on Linux from Windows server
...they are omitted. It wouldn't be a lot of progress if you could map the owner,
group, and permissions, but rsync transfered and created a new copy each time.
Does anyone understand what's happening here, and is there any hope with the
windows ownership and permissions question?

3510 configuration for ZFS
hi all,
I am hoping to move roughly 1TB of maildir format email to ZFS, but
I am unsure of what the most appropriate disk configuration on a 3510
would be.
based on the desired level of redundancy and usable space, my thought
was to create a pool consisting of 2x RAID-Z vdevs (either double
parity, or single parity with two hot-spares). using 300GB drives
this would give roughly 2.4TB of usable

[POSSIBLE FRAUD] Re: [EXTERNAL] Tripp Lite INTERNET750U instant commands ?
Hi Jean-Roch,
No. There is no user-facing firmware update process available.
If there are any particular commands you're interested in on a newer unit, I can look them up.

How do separate ZFS filesystems affect performance?
I''m working with a Cyrus IMAP server running on a T2000 box under
Solaris 10 10/09 with current patches. Mailboxes reside on six ZFS
filesystems, each containing about 200 gigabytes of data. These are
part of a single zpool built on four Iscsi devices from our Netapp
filer.
One of these ZFS filesystems contains a number of global and per-user
databases in addition to one sixth of the

[ncdf4] error converting GEIA data to netCDF

How to fix or debug?
details:
R code @

successfully (if crudely) uses R packages={ncdf4, maps, fields} to

+ display the data (mostly successfully--the map's legend has problems

Using onSubmit tag in form_tag?
Hi guys,
I have been working on a form that would use javascript to validate the
data before submitting it, and from my view.rhtml I have a statement
like this:
However such a statement generates a HTML tag that looks like this:
<form action="/users/Login?onSubmit=validate%28%29" method="post">
Seems like Rails thinks it is a parameter instead of an option, so

for each part of intermediate {
plot(process2(part))

Again, feasible but kludgey.

Am I missing something? Are there clean solutions to this problem?

code to convert 3D geographical coordinates to Cartesian?
...age=pracma uses the mathematics convention that
azimuth=? and polar angle=? (vs the reverse physics convention).
Net: the task seems straightforward enough, but there's certainly scope
for error, so I'd prefer to use tested, well-used code if available.
Am I missing something?

simulating directio on zfs?
I had to let this go and get on with testing DB2 on Solaris. I had to
abandon zfs on local discs in x64 Solaris 10 5/08.
The situation was that:
* DB2 buffer pools occupied up to 90% of 32GB RAM on each host
* DB2 cached the entire database in its buffer pools
o having the file system repeat this was not helpful
* running high-load DB2 tests for 2 weeks showed 100%
