invalid alignment error in R-2.4.0
Hi I thought I'd pass one of my package through R CMD check with R-2.4.0 with the following result (it's clean under R-2.3.1): [snip] > > # histogram of the fourth power: > hist(out^4, col="gray") *** caught bus error *** address 0x12, cause 'invalid alignment' Traceback: 1: sort(x, partial = c(half, half + 1)) 2: sum(sort(x, partial = c(half, half +

generic function argument list problem
Hi it says in R-exts that A method must have all the arguments of the generic, including ... if the generic does. A method must have arguments in exactly the same order as the generic. A method should use the same defaults as the generic. So, how come the arguments for rep() are (x, times, ...) and the arguments for rep.default() are (x, times, length.out, each, ...) ?

Trig.Rd typo (PR#9269)
Full_Name: Robin Hankin Version: 2.4.0 RC OS: MacOSX 10.4.7 Submission from: (NULL) (139.166.242.29) The first cut line described in Trig.Rd for asin() is incorrect in the ascii version of the manpage. The Rd file reads: For \code{asin()} and \code{acos()}, there are two cuts, both along the real axis: \eqn{\left(-\infty, -1\right]}{\(-Inf, 1\]} and Note the inconsistency between the

vector S4 classes
In the Green Book, section 7.5 discusses new vector classes and uses quaternions as an example of a vector class that needs more than one number per element. I would like to define a new class that has a numeric vector and a logical vector of the same length that specifies whether the measurement was accurate. The following code does not behave as desired: >

llvm-link unifies identified structs?
The language reference says: "identified [structure] types are never uniqued". But llvm-link seems to do just that at link-time: > cat x.ll %A = type {} %B = type {} %C = type { %A*, %B* } define void @foo(%C* %c) { ret void } > llvm-link x.ll | llvm-dis ; ModuleID = '<stdin>' source_filename = "llvm-link"

Bessel functions of complex argument
Dear R users, I'm porting a piece of Matlab code to R, but I'm now stuck with the following: I need an equivalent of besselJ(x, nu) that can handle a complex argument x. I couldn't find any R implementation. I did find a possible fortran solution in SLATEC (< http://www.netlib.org/slatec/ > , CBESJ-C), however I've never tried to use external C or Fortran code

Inf +1i vs 1+Inf*1i
Hi If I have a <- Inf + 1i then Re(a) is Inf, and Im(a) is 1, as expected. But if b <- 1 + Inf * 1i, then Im(b) = Inf , as expected, but Re(b) = NaN, which I didn't expect. Why this asymmetry? How to define an object with Re(b)=1, Im(b)=Inf? -- Robin Hankin Uncertainty Analyst Southampton Oceanography Centre European Way, Southampton SO14 3ZH, UK tel 023-8059-7743

filling an array, vectorized
Hi, I am sure this has come up before, but my searches of the archive didn't give any results (maybe I didn't use the right keywords, but if I use too many, the search times out). I have a vector of dimensions n, length is not fixed, eg n <- c(4,5,7) or n <- c(19,4,5,7) and a function f that takes a vector of indices, same length of n, and gives a scalar. I would like to fill

[LLVMdev] Linking static archives with MCJIT?
On Wed, Sep 25, 2013 at 17:14 +0000, you wrote: > What API did you use in 3.2? llvm::Linker used to have a method LinkInLibrary(). My understanding is that there's a larger reorganisation of the linking process going on but I haven't found a straight-forward replacement for that method yet. I might be missing something though. Or perhaps I could even just reuse some code from that old

gdata selectively not working
I can use gdata to successfully read in the example Excel file, but not any other excel files. Why might this be the case? It seems that the problem has something to do with opening the database but no indication as to what the problem is. So i'm at a loss of how to fix it. > library(gdata) gdata: read.xls support for 'XLS' (Excel 97-2004) files ENABLED. gdata: read.xls support

[LLVMdev] Linking static archives with MCJIT?
Hi all, is there a way to link a native static library (.a) into code that runs through MCJIT? I was able to do it with LLVM 3.2, but it seems the API has changed and maybe was removed? Multipathing with Sun 7310
Dear list, we have a relatively new Sun Storage 7310, where we connect CentOS 5.5 Servers (IBM LS21/LS41 Blades) via Brocade Switches, 4GBit FC. The Blades boot from SAN via qla2xxx, and have no harddisks at all. We want them to use multipathing from the very beginning, so /boot and / are already seen by multipathd. Problem is, that the Sun 7310 has two storage heads which run in

tapply problem
Hello everybody. I have a question that has stumped me and the usual "apply" tricks don't seem to work. I run a course where each student's performance is marked by one or more assessors. I have a data frame containing students' names, assessors' names and their marks, arranged as follows: ID student assessor Q1A Q1B Q1C Q2A Q2B Q3 1 2152833

'invalid subroutine type ref' when linking custom metadata
With 3.9, llvm-link tells me 'invalid subroutine type ref' when linking the two code pieces below, and I don't quite understand why. It looks like it merges the debug information with the custom metadata. I've filed a ticket already [1] but as I'm not sure if this is indeed a bug or if I'm misunderstanding something, I thought I'd ask here. Any ideas? Thanks, Robin

[LLVMdev] Fwd: Stackmaps for ELF?
I don't believe the changes have made it in yet. In addition to the previous patch set, we've got an independent implementation we've been using for a while: https://github.com/AzulSystems/llvm-late-safepoint-placement We really should get one or the other merged in tree. Could you point me to the previous patch set so I can ping it and review? Philip -------- Original Message
