Very odd issue w/ a CentOS 6 system
Now, this is one we have an issue with: it's got a bttv card, and motion running on it. It's a Dell PE R720. For some reason, it has never liked the card: 20 min after reboot, it says fatal bus error... but nothing's wrong, and it runs just fine. Well, expect that we need to keep it on the 2.6.32-431.20.3 kernel, because *everything* later, it randomly starts rebooting, several times a

How to reset Digium card while asterisk is running?
Hi, I currently have a yellow/red alarm on one span of a Digium card. It is not the first time, this already happened some months ago, and I expect to clear the alarm when rmmoding and insmoding the zaptel and wct4xxp modules. Unfortunately I can't rmmod while asterisk is running and I can't stop asterisk, because of lot of traffic on other channels. Ok, I could wait until 2 o'clock in the night, in order to shut down asterisk on low traffic. I wonder, if there...

kerneld and module security
Here''s a neat trick for a machine running kerneld: not_root@machine$ /sbin/ifconfig isofs loads ''/lib/modules/(kernel version here)/fs/isofs.o''. /sbin/ifconfig when run as non-root queries a network interface for its configuration. However, if the interface is unknown it also tries to load the module that implements that interface using the name of the interface as

Serious performance issues
Hi. I have a Shuttle box with an AMD Athlon XP 2200+ and 1GB of RAM. I''m normally running it with Debian sarge/sid and kernel 2.6.10-1-k7, as built by Debian. I want to use Xen on it. I built a xen0 kernel which is as close to the Debian kernel as I can (no power management, no HPET timers, broken ISA drivers disabled), disabled /lib/tls, and booted with the new kernel. Everything works.
