Sarah: RHSA tracking tool
.... My main reason for writing such a tool is to automate reports to send out to customers for getting approval for updates during planned maintenance. My aim is to list the risk and information based on information provided by Red Hat. Another use case would be to send out emails either when new RHSAs are released or updates are made to existing RHSAs or sending out daily or weekly mails for systems that are lacking certain security updates. I bet other people have other requirements, so I like to hear about those. PS You may wonder what it offers on top on RHN. In fact it doesn't offer...

Bash package for CentOS5
Hi! I have noticed, that our mirror has this package bash-3.2-33.el5_11.4.x86_64.rpm, but a lot of other mirror still have bash-3.2-33.el5_10.4.x86_64.rpm. Since bash-3.2-33.el5_11.4.x86_64.rpm was issued on 26-Sep-2014 04:28, could this be the product of slower mirror update cycles? Regards, Mitja -- -- Mitja Miheli? EL5 Security Policy for the final 3 years
Red Hat's Security policy for Production 3 Phase of the Life Cycle for EL5 is that they will only release "Critical impact Security Advisories (RHSAs) and selected Urgent Priority Bug Fix Advisories (RHBAs) may be released as they become available. Other errata advisories may be delivered as appropriate." https://access.redhat.com/support/policy/updates/errata/#Production_3_Phase In practice, what that means so far is this: All Important...

CentOS-4 i386 and x86_64 End of Life (EOL)
...Extended Life-cycle Support (ELS) Add-On Subscription" for their Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4 product. The ELS Subscription provides up to three additional years of limited Software Maintenance (Production 3 Phase) for RHEL 4 with unlimited technical support, critical Security Advisories (RHSAs) and selected Urgent Priority Bug Advisories (RHBAs). This service from Red Hat, Inc. would require both a RHEL 4 subscription and an ELS subscription. Note: The CentOS Project is not affiliated with Red Hat, Inc. CentOS-4 is not, nor does it contain, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. However, Cent...

Correlation with LNAELV ....
.... I am new to this list (got referred here from the fedora list, COLD ....) and have a few questions. I poked around CentOS.org & couldn't figure these out, so here goes: 1. What is the correspondence, if any, betwixt RHEL, err, I mean LNAELV version #'s and CentOS version #'s ? 2. Does CentOS plan to branch permanently away from LNAELV distribution, or periodically
