[External] Creating model formulas programmatically
Thanks, Rich.
I thought of that, too, but it violates the spirit of my restraints (to
avoid character strings), which I unfortunately did not clearly articulate.
So my apologies for that failure. My concern is that with more complex
model formula, using as.formula, etc. to parse/convert character strings
can get a bit hairy. But in most cases, as here maybe, it may be perfectly...

How do I? Same Model, Different Controllers, Different Validations?
Hi all --
The simple question is: How do I set different validations for the same
Model, when accessed in different Controllers?
Here''s the scenario: I have a store/cart app, with a customer-facing
shopping cart, and a typical Admin side. The Admin side also has an
Order Entry component, where our staff can enter orders received by fax,
telephone, etc. Both the customer-facing cart

Restrained least squares fitting
Hi All,
I've found a few references in the mailing list and documentation to
constrained least squares fitting, but little on restrained least squares.
To clarify what I mean, a constraint might limit a parameter to a particular
value (e.g. x=5.0, or exactly within the bounds 4.9 - 5.1), whereas a
restraint adds some further information to the problem about the certainty
of the starting point

[LLVMdev] EHABI: Remaining issues
...; uwtable.)
Yes, and that's what my merge request implements:
http://llvm-reviews.chandlerc.com/D3079
As soon as that's in, I believe EHABI is finally in good shape to be
called Beta.
Since the 3.4 release I'm trying to get the EHABI and IAS support in
good shape (removing the final restraints, testing a lot), for them to
be enabled by default in 3.5, and I think we got it, thanks to you,
Anton, Saleem and many others.
cheers,

Model and Controller relationship
My question is about where certain kinds of logic sit in the Model and
Controller objects or more specifically the relationship between Model
and Controllers.
Does an Model class contain a Controller class, the otherway round, or
are they two seperate classes that talk?
1. Should the Models be treated as the primary objects within a program
and the matching controller is simply a way of

Compiling legacy LSI megaraid drivers (Linux 2.6.11) with xen 2.0.7?
Hi all,
I''ve been using Xen for a while and I am trying to install it onto a
Dell Poweredge 2950. The 2850 uses a PERC4/Di raid on motherboard,
which requires the LSI Legacy SCSI Raid driver to be compiled into the
2.6.11-xen0 kernel. I''ve been recompiling the kernel by:
1. Go into the linux-2.6.11-xen0 directory. Select the driver using

...nity,
I am very new to the world of Linux and R and I have stumbled upon a problem that I cannot seem to resolve on my own. Here is the relevant background:
I am working on a 64-bit Linux Fedora Core 6 OS. I using R version 2.5.1. I have 3.8 Gb of RAM and 1.9 Gb of swap. As I see it, there are no restraints on the amount of memory that R can use imposed by this particular OS build. When I type in the 'ulimit' command at the command line the response is 'unlimited'.
Here is the problem:
I have uploaded and normalized 48 ATH1 microarray slides using the justRMA function.

Mailing List Etiquette
OK guys and gals ... can we please stop all the fighting?
When technical questions are asked, they should be answered. I lot of
people on this list have something that a lot of newbies need ...
experience.
So answering a question with "RTFM" or "JFGI" is not going to impart any
of your experience ... which is one of the things they need and want.

It is not our job here to second-guess implementation decisions made by others as only the people concerned are familiar with their environment's restraints and business requirements.

How to set a relationship with a value from a selection list
I realize this is probably a very basic problem but I''m developing my
first rails app and running into this problem.
I''m trying to write a photoblog application. I have a photo table and an
album table. Photo has a to-one relationship to Album. Photo.album_id =>
Album.id
In my view for photo I have a selection list that''s populated with all
the available albums.

NIS works fine on CentOS 8. Certainly the client side. But how it's
