The Natives are Restless!
Has anyone noticed over the years, that every time a major new CentOS
release is just about to happen, suddenly there starts to be a few very
long and drawn out threads?
Has anyone ever considered that the core team is in fact monitoring this
thread while trying to devote as much time as possible to actually
getting the next release out the door? Could it possibly take longer for

[LLVMdev] "Name that compiler"
Looks like people send many names in the contest,
so shall I do too.
I propose "Lepton", loosely meaning light (featherweight) in Greek.
It is used in particle physics to refer to very light particles
(electrons, muons).
For me it also has the connotations of fastness and
restlessness (in the LLVM sense of post-compile
optimization).
See more at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lepton#Etymology

Squatting
Hey Campers,
I liked Camping so much that I had to "port" it to Perl. My framework is
called Squatting (as in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squatting), and you can
get it from the following places:
http://search.cpan.org/dist/Squatting/
http://github.com/beppu/squatting/tree/master
It''s not a straight port of the Camping code, because Camping uses some
weird Ruby idioms that

FYI about my Mona Vie business venture
Asterisk work does not pay all of my bills, so I have joined up with a company that has a very good payment plan.
I have recently become a Mona Vie Independent Distributor.
I am not going to go into a sales pitch.
This is just an FYI to this opportunity.
The company has grown into a Billion dollar company in just 2 years.
This company's compensation plan is the best and quickest that I have

ffmpeg2theora: FPS issues with M2T
Hi,
I'm just attempting to re-encode some 720p HD (720x576) mpeg2-transport
files to theora using ffmpeg2theora. However it seems impossible to get
the framerate right; if I leave it on default the framerate seems to be
doubled, if I force input fps to 50 it seems to go half speed. The
files play fine with ffplay however. Has anyone got any clues?
Cheers,
Steve

samba 3.0 problems with word files and possible other msoffice files
We have several problems with word files which I would really like to have
solved.
The users are getting restless and me too ...
Situation :
I can not reproduce the problem with my version and config of pc.
But we have a group of people which use windows 2000 and msoffice 2000.
They use only word with an addon which translates texts (these people are
translators).
The translator addon

How do you make a formal "feature" request?
Who decides what features are in R and how they are implemented? If there is someone here who has that authority I have this request:
A report() function analogous to the plot() function that makes it easy to generate a report from a table of data. This should not be in some auxiliary package, but part of the core R just like plot(). As a long time SAS user I cannot believe R does not have this.

Secure delete?
Hi all
Is it possible to securely delete a file from a zfs dataset/zpool once it''s been snapshotted, meaning "delete (and perhaps overwrite) all copies of this file"?
Best regards
