iax softphones - not reconnecting
...roblems ... Right now I use iaxcomm wich was best, of the ones I tried. But I have one problem with it. When I turn on qualify, it will not connect to the asterisk. This is also documented and normal behaveor. But if I turn of qualify, iaxcomm does not reconnect to the server, when the server got restartet or the connection got lost. So I do not know, how I can get this problem solved. Turning on qualify would get it reconnecting, but after some time it does disconnect with the note: is now unreachable. is there any other option I can activate to get asterisk or iaxcomm reconnecting? Or does anyb...

" sysctl net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-iptables" brought a 1. I didn't change it. Then I restartet the firewall ! ...ba server. My NT setup is in such a way that the NT box is mounting a Samba share via the user profile. As far as I remember right it is not enough to fix the problem just to re-login into NT you have to reboot. It seems to me that the problem is caused by a synchronization problem between the restartet Samba server an the running NT. Regards, Axel Neumann

rsync server bootscript - stop and status considerations
Hello :-) I want to create a boot/shutdown script including the usual restart, start, status and stop options (on Slackware64 13.1). Netsearching for prior art, I did not find any comprehensive examples. The normal technique seems to be to kill the process recorded in the PID file (let's call it the daemon) but this does not terminate all the rsync server processes. Experimenting and

I attached some logs to the mail how /var/log looks ... hardly any looging except for startups and shutdowns of samba. I restartet samba and attached the logs. How to monitor this problem? sshd reexec mechanism
...on the new reexec mechanism in sshd? (didn't find find much about it here on the list) Background of this question: I added a session numbering to our internal version to help keeping all log messages of one client connection together. In 3.9p1 the current number gets lost when the sshd is restartet in the reexec mechanism. I'd like to find a way to pass the number to the new process (maybe I'll add a cmd line option) instead of disabling reexec. Frank

Kerberos Ticket Issue
...e communication between the samba server and the ADS? Or is the ticket only neccesary for the net join and then it isn't used any longer? I ask these questions cause i got some really weird messages some days ago (after the ticket was expired), which wet away after i fetched a new ticket. And restartet the smb and winbind daemon. But now it seems to work since two days without renewing ticket or fetching a new one. I can't find any detailed information about this kerberos ticket thing... So if you have got a nice manual about the process of taking the ticket, joining a ads and so on... plea...

tilde username
Hi I use winbind with ADS security for authentication. If I write "ls -la ~username" in bash or ksh and press TAB or escape to resolve the HOMEDIR the shell hangs until I cancel with Ctrl+C. After that I have to restart winbind! If I press enter after "ls -la ~username" it works. I use samba3-winbind-3.0.28-35 on RHEL4U6 (32bit). Any idea? regards urs

wrong Messages in virtual Folder
Hello, I created a virtual Folder that should contain all Mails from several different Folders and their subfolders. Recently I added a new folder to the dovecot-virtual file and then found that most Mails from this folder were missing. I always restartet dovecot (is this necessary?) after any change. The system is running Debian Stretch and I am using the supplied dovecot 2.2.7 (see below for output of doveconf -n). To narrow this down I removed all other directories from the dovecot-virtual file and then found that the number of mails is correct,...

Help for Samba 3 and Win ADS
Hi there! Just started to play around with Samba 3 (on debian 3.0) and a win2000 domain. Can anyone help me to integrate the Samba server into the win domain? It should act as a file server for the useres and groups from win and therefor I need different rights and permissions for the shares... Any help is appreciated ;-) Regards Dieter

domain logons across subnets
...an NT server, which is in a diferent subnet, behind a linux-router. on this linux-router, I also installed samba. I noticed in log.nmbd, that the client always queries for a "0x1c" type, but never gets a response from nmbd. Thus , I "hacked" the "wins.dat" file, and restartet nmbd: HBLADOMAIN#1e 883484202 255.255.255.255 ffe0R HBLADOMAIN#1c 883484202 192.168.1.253 ffe0R HBLADOMAIN#00 883484205 255.255.255.255 ffe0R the "1c" entry was put in there by me. Suddenly, domain-logons worked. (192.168.1.253 is the IP-adresse of the NT-machine). a) what is the corr...

Strange Behavior accessing shares
...share "projekteee" I CAN! (as expected) Strange eh? There are no differences but the name of the share. Yes, the user has write-acces to the filesystem. No, no difference if I use smbclient or Windows. No, there is no other share called "projekte" or something like this. I did restartet the samba-daemon and did an upgrade from 3.0.7 to 3.0.9, no way to get the share "projekte" working. Untill today I thought I have enough experience with Samba to set up a simple share ;-). Any help welcome! Thanks in advance! Here comes the (hopefully) importend part of level 10 log...
