[fdo] Respository vandalism by root@...fd.o
Hi,
Dave, thanks for the Cc. I've Cc-ed this to freedesktop@, since it's
really a bit more of a project-wide discussion than just xorg, but feel
free to keep both in Cc.

Fastest 4.6 -> 5.1 upgrade path
Hi All,
I've a question on upgrading Centos with the least downtime...
I've a centos 4.6 machine, hosting my local Centos respository. I'd
like to upgrade the OS to 5.1
I've practised in a VMware machine upgrading it by booting from a CD,
but I wondered if YUM could do it, whilst keeping the rest of the
machine "alive".
Am I better to shutdown and

question about network repositories
Hi
I'm thinking about setting up a local / LAN respository for my CentOS,
and probably other (Fedora Core) disto's, but have never done it before,
so here's some questions:
If I setup a repository, can it hold different distro's / architectures
& versions? Say for example, CentOS 4 (i386 & x64), CentOS 5.0 & 5.1
(i386 & x64) - will each one have it's own

Error: Can not handle categorical predictors with more than 32 categories.
Hi All,
My question is in regards to an error generated when using randomForest
in R. Is there a special way to format the data in order to avoid this
error, or am I completely confused on what the error implies?
"Error in randomForest.default(m, y, ...) :
Can not handle categorical predictors with more than 32 categories."
This is generated from the command line:

ubuntu hardy heron and lme4
I have R version 2.10.1 (2009-12-14) installed on Ubuntu HH (version 8.04)
I installed lme4 from the Ubuntu respository. When I executed the library(lme4)
command, R responds that lme4.so was not found.
I then uninstalled lme4 and tried again from cran. When the program tried to
compile, there was a message that -llapack could not be found, so the package
failed to install.
If I execute the

Switchtoer and and file://
I might be a bit mistaken but if the SVN repo resides on the box which
you are deploying to should you not be able to use file:/// for the
set :respository in your recipe?
Or am I misunderstanding how the checkout occurs on the deployment box?

/etc/yum/pluginconf.d/priorities.conf file disappeared
On 28 July, I changed from ProtectBase to Priorities. I kept unusually
detailed notes that day. Yesterday, when I added the RPMForge respository,
so I could install MPlayer, I found that the
/etc/yum/pluginconf.d/priorities.conf file no longer exists. I'm not sure
how that happened. Question: Is there a way to regenerate that file? TIA

Next, it directs to:

none of which refer to PATH (except Makeconf, which refers to JAVA path, but not to PATH itself)
Today's R-SIG-Mac Digest addresses a similar issue in OS X -- that R.app gets the values from /.MacOSX/environment.plist whereas a session started in Terminal uses .bashrc...

Shared remote repository
Hello,
I have a bit of a problem - I have the feeling the solution is
ridicolously trivial, and yet I can't find it!
I have a remote repository of text files. Until today, I was the only
one changing those files: I would simply change them locally, and
update the remote repository with this command:
cd local_dir
rsync --delete -e ssh -Llavuz . merc@remote_server:remote_directory

Authenticating Samba Share with Domain Administrator
I have a NAS (Linux/Slackware 14.2) that is a domain member. "Normal" AD Windows users can map
shared directories just fine without having to enter Credentials. If I try doing that with the
domain Administrator it prompts me for the credentials, then fails. On the NAS I can get an
"OK" status with ntlm_auth using the administrator credentials. I cannot 'su -' to the

I am wondering if there are any plans to release a large dvd iso

would be a good addition. Instead of three cd iso's one big dvd iso.

"yum update": When is new header data downloaded? (Trying to set up custom repository...)
I'm trying to set up a custom rpm respository for some in-house
software, and configure a number of CentOS 5 clients so that they may
install and update the software in question from the location in
question. I think I've mostly figured out how to do this - I've
successfully installed software on one of the clients via "yum install

xmlParseDoc parser errors
Hi,
I have some XML files that have a processing instruction directly
after the XML declaration
when I do
kgroup.reading <- character(0)
for (file in file_list){kgroup.reading <-
xmlParseDoc(file.path("c:","projects","respositories","dk","004",file))}
I get the error
file name :1: parser error : Start tag expected, '<' not found
When I remove the processing instruction and try to load it again I do
not get the parser error.
This is of course understandable because of
