[fdo] Respository vandalism by root@...fd.o
Hi, Dave, thanks for the Cc. I've Cc-ed this to freedesktop@, since it's really a bit more of a project-wide discussion than just xorg, but feel free to keep both in Cc. ]] Frans de Boer | Also, if it turns out to be a validated claim Adam made, accept it as | is and continue. Hopefully Adam has learned his lesson. But also | Freedesktop.org should have it's act together. Do check

Fastest 4.6 -> 5.1 upgrade path
Hi All, I've a question on upgrading Centos with the least downtime... I've a centos 4.6 machine, hosting my local Centos respository. I'd like to upgrade the OS to 5.1 I've practised in a VMware machine upgrading it by booting from a CD, but I wondered if YUM could do it, whilst keeping the rest of the machine "alive". Am I better to shutdown and upgrade, or is yum really *that* good? Thanks, A...

question about network repositories
Hi I'm thinking about setting up a local / LAN respository for my CentOS, and probably other (Fedora Core) disto's, but have never done it before, so here's some questions: If I setup a repository, can it hold different distro's / architectures & versions? Say for example, CentOS 4 (i386 & x64), CentOS 5.0 & 5.1 (i386 & x64...

ubuntu hardy heron and lme4
I have R version 2.10.1 (2009-12-14) installed on Ubuntu HH (version 8.04) I installed lme4 from the Ubuntu respository. When I executed the library(lme4) command, R responds that lme4.so was not found. I then uninstalled lme4 and tried again from cran. When the program tried to compile, there was a message that -llapack could not be found, so the package failed to install. If I execute the following: york at...

Switchtoer and and file://
I might be a bit mistaken but if the SVN repo resides on the box which you are deploying to should you not be able to use file:/// for the set :respository in your recipe? Or am I misunderstanding how the checkout occurs on the deployment box? -Paul

/etc/yum/pluginconf.d/priorities.conf file disappeared
On 28 July, I changed from ProtectBase to Priorities. I kept unusually detailed notes that day. Yesterday, when I added the RPMForge respository, so I could install MPlayer, I found that the /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/priorities.conf file no longer exists. I'm not sure how that happened. Question: Is there a way to regenerate that file? TIA -- Lanny --------------------------------------------------------- Over 800 Magazine titles up to 80%...

Environment variable PATH in Windows
Colleagues, I am trying to understand how R (2.12.1) obtains the PATH environment variable in Windows (7 or Vista). Startup {base} directs one to: "R_ENVIRON" -- which equals "" in my systems R_HOME/etc/Renviron.site -- which does not exist Next, it directs to: R_HOME/etc/Rprofile.site -- which also does not exist (the expected behavior in a "factory-fresh"

Shared remote repository
...ory with this command: cd local_dir rsync --delete -e ssh -Llavuz . merc@remote_server:remote_directory Now, things are more complicated because I am not the only person modifying those files stored in the remote server anymore. So, here is what I'd like to do: * Make sure that the remote respository is always the "good", updated copy * If I change one of my files locally, the remote repository is updated * If I change a remote file, my local file is updated * If both the remote file and the local file are changed, then the latest one "wins" This would obviously apply to...

"yum update": When is new header data downloaded? (Trying to set up custom repository...)
I'm trying to set up a custom rpm respository for some in-house software, and configure a number of CentOS 5 clients so that they may install and update the software in question from the location in question. I think I've mostly figured out how to do this - I've successfully installed software on one of the clients via "yum i...

Information from the real world into Puppet (simply)?
...xamples and understand what''s going on. My issue is that there doesn''t seem to be a ruby api for the debian apt-* utilities so I''m not sure where to go from here. What I''m trying to achieve is, in essence, to find the latest xen-hypervisor package within the apt respository to then dynamically configure puppet to install that package. Yes, I''m aware that the idea behind package { "xen-hypervisor": ensure => latest } is meant to achieve what I''m looking for but because there are multiple packages I need to be more specific in my pac...
