Any alternatives for the horrible reposync
Hi, I'm currently trying to mirror a couple of yum repositories and the only tool that seems to be available for this is reposync. Unfortunately reposync for some inexplicable reason seems to use the yum config of the local system as a basis for its work which makes no sense and creates all kinds of problems where cache directories and metadata gets mixed up. Are there any alternatives? Some repos support rsync but not all of...

cobbler reposync fails when accessing the CentOS 6 extras repos
Hi everyone, We are updating local repos from different mirrors using cobbler reposync. This has been working fine for the longest time but started to fail a few days ago (see below for failure details). I first try to use a different mirror but that didn?t help. This morning, I modified cobbler to disable the auto-update for the centos/6/extras/i386/ and centos/6/extras/x86_64/ rep...

reposync
Hello, During a reposync of the centos base mirror, how come there are more packages downloaded than the iso file contains... The iso's Packages directory contains 3956 rpm packages. The reposync of base holds 6381 rpm packages. This was done using centos's default yum repo file [base] name=CentOS-$releasever -...

Problems with reposync and createrepo on CentOS 7 for RHEL8/CentOS8 repo?
Hi, I tried to reproduce the issue but without success, everything seems to be working fine (I've copied repodata directory created by the reposync on Centos7 machine to RHEL8 server to /tmp/pg12repo directory): RHEL8 # dnf search postgresql12 --repofrompath=a,/tmp/pg12repo --repoid=a Added a repo from /tmp/pg12repo a 204 MB/s | 784 kB 00:00 ==================================== Name Exactly Matched: postgresql12 =====================...

Whereis yum-rhn-plugin package?
Hi all, I need to setup a repo server to allocate updates for RHEL3, RHEL4, RHEL5 and CentOS5. Apart of mrrepo tool, I see that I can use reposync from yum-utils package and yum-rhn-plugin package to setup a mirror update server. But I can't to find yum-rhn-plugin under centos5 repo. Where is it?? Or I need to use package released from upstream vendor?? Thanks -- CL Martinez carlopmart {at} gmail {d0t} com

Building on RHEL 8
...port release 8 yet. The repos at https://tdawson.fedorapeople.org/epel8/ provide most of the missing bits/ A working local repository for RHEL 8 that can work with mock and do builds with takes some extra work. I publish a tool for that at https://github.com/nkadel/nkadel-rsync-scripts/blob/master/reposync-rhel-8.sh . I anticipate that the need for this will evaporate as soon as the first CentOS 8 build is completed. What is still biting me is that RHEL has elected to build two RPM's from the same SRPM, one labeled "package-version-release.el8", and the other named "package-versio...

gpgcheck of rpms / anaconda / kickstart / composer install
...s here? I was playing with the livemedia-creator and had a 3rd party repo in my ks file. The packages were installed without any problems although having not any key in the rpm db imported. So that leads me to the assumption that the gpgchecks are not done. How to get the integrity check done? reposync and manual check as a pre composer step? I appreciate any hints ... -- Leon

Creating a controlled local repo
...9;t bite the grass should eg X, the kernel (and breaking the proprietary nvidia gfx-drivers in the process) etc be updated in a "non-approved" way. Therefore I've planned to create a local repo on one of our servers, share /var/cache/yum, set keepcache to 1 on that server and have it reposync periodically (like once a week) with CentOS Base, Extras, rpmforge and so on. On the clients I'd disable all standard repos, and only have the clients yum update from the aforementioned local repo server. Would this work? Or is there a cleaner/nicer/better/simpler way to do this? Gotchas'...

Samba 4.10.6 for rhel7/centos7 rpms
Hi everyone, I've posted some updated source and binary rpms following the release of updates by the samba project. Updated rpms include samba-4.10.6 and ldb-1.5.5. Here are the links: - http://nova.polymtl.ca/~coyote/dist/samba/samba-4.10.6/RHEL7 As usual, these work fine for me (4.10.6) but YMMV. Please do report issues if you find some. Regards, Vincent
