flac --replay-gain
I have FLAC files that I would like to re-encode with --replay-gain. I have my Flac's organized in Artist/Album folders, so I should have no problem getting an album gain/peak per album.
Do I need to first de-code the flac's to wav files and then "flac --replay-gain *.wav", or can this be accomplished by going to each Album directory and "flac -f --replay-gain

ControlPlayback can not replay complicated file names
If not sure if I am looking at a bug or expected behaviour as I do not see anything in the documentation.
ControlPlayback can not replay complicated file names
For example it can replay

but it can not replay

Playback can replay

I suspect this relates to how the variables are parsed and parameters set.
Does anyone have any further

Questions regarding journal replay
Today, I had to uncleanly shutdown one of our machines due to an error

Bug Report. Replay-gain and ogg.
I just bought an I Audio mobile device (Btw, these thigns are the
coolest players on the face of the earth.. might want to check em out).
It plays ogg vorbis files rather nicely. My whole music library is
sitting in flac format. When I encoded my flac files (the majority a
year ago) I used replay gain to save the album and track information if
the flac file.
Unfortunately, the I audio doesnt like

Bug: flac --replay-gain thinks that I used --no-padding
If I use flac to encode with the --replay-gain
option, I get a warning about the --no-padding
option...
"NOTE: --replay-gain may leave a small PADDING block even with --no-padding"
...even though I'm not using --no-padding. And the
file does end up with a small padding block, so
changing tags is slow.
I'd fixed this bug in my own copy of flac 1.1.4,
but forgot to submit the

Replay recorded plot with new layout

and produce the same effect as the following (the above no longer produces
this layout):
par(mfrow=c(2,1))
plot(1,1,xlab="X",ylab="Y")
plot(2,2,xlab="X2",ylab="Y2")
It seems replaying plots now uses the original par or layout that was in
effect when they were recorded.
Is there some new method that allows a saved plot to be replayed in a new
layout.
As the graphical display of data and model predictions, plots are often the
end result of a lengthy bit of data manipulation and...

flac --replay-gain
When I run it (OS X 10.6.2), find builds a list across multiple directories and then runs metaflac, causing metaflac to report. "The FLAC file could not be opened. Most likely the file does not exist or is not readable."
I would think this is the expected result as " {} + " is the same as -execdir, except that ``{}'' is replaced with as many pathnames as possible for

[Flac-users] Grip, FLAC, and album replay gain
OK, here's a problem:
I want to set the album replay gain in each track, but I'm using grip to
rip and encode the tracks one by one. grip knows that all the tracks are
on a single album, but FLAC sees them one at a time. I put the
--replay-gain
option on the FLAC command line, so it emits four comments into the
vorbis commebnt block, e.g.:

Replay-gain
Hi List,
Is there a way to correctly use the replay-gain feature on flac files that
contain an entire album (i.e., multiple tracks with seekpoints added from a
cue sheet)?

Replay-gain
Hello everyone, I'm new to this flac thing (started about a week ago) but I have read a lot about flac and replaygain. As far as I understand it, replaygain is lossless in the sense that I can tell my player to ignore the settings or I can even use foobar2000 to remove the tags entirely, hence getting back to the original audio.
If that is the case, why is there a warning in the foobar2000

flac --replay-gain
Ah! metaflac, thanks, but won't this cause metaflac to combine flac's across directories and give an album replay gain for the combined flac's? (as opposed to separate albums i.e. metaflac /album1/*.flac /album2/*.flac as opposed to metaflac /album1/*.flac, metaflac /album2/*.flac)

Replay Gain for vorbis
I had completely forgotten about Replay Gain until Mr. Seibert reminded
me. Wasn't there talk of adding this to vorbis-tools?
Anyway, I went here:
http://sjeng.sourceforge.net/ftp/vorbis/
And downloaded the source for the replay gain tool. Unfortunately, I
cannot compile it. The errors regard parameters to ov_read_float. Is
there updated source somewhere else?

ext3 fsck question
Hi,
After our big ext3 file server crashes, I notice the fsck spends some time
replaying the journals (about 5-10 mins for all volumes on the server in
question). I guess it must do this should you want to mount the volumes as
ext2.
My question--is it (theoretically) possible to tell fsck only to replay
half-finished and to knock out incomplete transactions from the journals,
leaving...

Replay mail to test MTA + filtering
Hi All,
My kit : Centos4.4 + Postfix + SA + ClamAV (not that its relevant)
General question - Does anyone know of a product which can take a folder
/ mbox
of mail (spam, ham, virus infected stuff, scam mail and hoaxes) and
"replay" it back
against a test server to determine the servers ability to filter?
I have looked at some low level (IP) packet replayers, but i cant really

I get a lot of these in my log, especially when I am moving lots of traffic

Replay Gain in Vorbis
Wasn't sure whether to post this to <vorbis-dev>
or <vorbis>. Have settled on <vorbis-dev>.
Where can I find details on how to encode
Replay Gain into Vorbis files?
On the Wikipedia page at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Replay_Gain
it states:
"FLAC and Ogg Vorbis use the
REPLAYGAIN_* comment fields."
but I can't find any reference to Replay Gain in
