problems with non-interactive shells on Solaris 8 with 3.7.1p1
In case you have problems with 3.7.1p1 on Solaris 8 and have the following messages logged: fatal: PAM: pam_open_session(): Can not make/remove entry for session Try installing Sun patch 111659-07 or later (or some later patch which incorporates this patch). This fixed it for me, YMMV. -- Karsten. 'Nobody Expects the Spanish Inquisition' -Monty Python

Patch: Allow statistics to specify xferred bytes greater than MAXLONG
Hi all: Below is a patch against 2.5.6 which fixes a problem when more than MAXLONG (2147483648) bytes are in the file system when statistics are output (and the compiler supports long long). Before the patch, I would get a core dump during statistics generation on large f. Now I can get statistics like: wrote 1139440 bytes read 20 bytes 17666.50 bytes/sec total size is 2154562788 speedup

problem with rsync usage across NFS
I am using rsync version 2.3.2 on Sun (SunOS 5.8). And I encountered the following problem that I hope the guru of rsync on this list can shed light on. The configuration is depicted as follows: rsync Sun data file -----> NFS file server (nfs) | | Linux_nfs_clients (lin)

msg "X11 connection uses different authentication protocol" ?
Hi, using OpenSSH_2.1.1 p4 i have problems with X11 forwarding. I used the same sources for Solaris and Linux. Tried nearly every combination, but it seems that the "opensshd" for Solaris has some problems. Of course i tried to connect with "ssh -X", the server has in its /etc/sshd_config: X11Forwarding yes X11DisplayOffset 10 XAuthLocation /usr/openwin/bin/xauth The client

some errors on 1.1.3
Hi, we recently upgraded dovecot from 1.0.5 to 1.1.3+latest patches. After the upgrade I saw some errors in the logs and I'm not sure whether they're a cause for concern. Our setup is 2 servers running openSUSE 11.0 and a NetApp Filer as storage backend. Following is the config: protocols: imap imaps pop3 pop3s login_dir: /var/run/dovecot/login login_executable(default):

rsync-2.6.2: NFS clients confused after an rsync
We use rsync to update an nfs server. After an update, we noticed that a large number of clients didn't see the updated data. It took me a while to be able to reliably reproduce this problem, but it happens on old and new versions of rysnc. It also happens across all the platforms we use here (sun/linux/netapp). This shows the problem: [Note my home directory is NFS mounted]
