R CMD check and error in an \Sexpr in an Rd file
...'exfile' not found Execution halted To reproduce, put a call like this in an Rd section: \Sexpr[results=verbatim, stage=render]{x <- 1; stop("sexpr error")} The strange thing is that it occurs at the example checking step. How to do package cleanup: hooks .onUnload, R_unload_mylib, .onDetach are not called on quit
...as calling cleaning up routines of a loaded third-party library? ...all clients and a graceful shutdown don't? I think this is a bug, if I'm shutting down a server, it's obvious that all clients should stop to connect to it.... how to update R
...d the package "multcomp", I have an error message saying that this package was developed under R 1.8.1. So my question is "How to update R" ? Should I uninstall my version of R to install the new one or is there a simpler way to update it ? Than you for your answer. Sincerely, Renaud.

install.packages deletes PACKAGES file in local repo
...y. This happens on a cluster running Scientific Linux release 6.4 (Carbon), but not on my Ubuntu local machine. Subsequent calls to install.packages() complain about src/contrib/PACKAGES not existing, although there still is a src/contrib/PACKAGES.gz file. Is this a know issue? Thank you. Windows binary for R 1.6.1 FIXED
To Windows R users: The binary build of R that I uploaded on Tuesday contained errors in the compiled HTML help files and some of the PDF versions of the manuals. In particular, the index was missing from the CHM files, and the table of contents was missing from at least one of the manuals. I've since found the error in my setup, and have rebuilt the distribution. I uploaded it to CRAN
