The Public Appology To Francis Cianfrocca
...sincere apologies all around to anyone who''s felt he was in
the right and I''m a bad guy. I shall use my power to influence people
more appropriately with rational technical comparisons from now on.
Hopefully, this will put a final end to any misconceptions as to the
depth of my remorse for having said that Francis is shady or desperate
for cash.
My heart felt apologies.

Ruby at O''Reilly Rough Cuts
Not sure if this is old news or not, but it would appear that both the
Ruby Cookbook and a Rails book are now available for purchase at
O''Reilly Rough Cuts (something akin to PragProg''s beta book program):

I haven''t tried them yet, but it definitely seems worth checking out.

Asterisk Community Participant; Katrina Refugee
Hi All,
My family and I are doing well. Thank you all for your prayers.
We are using this as an opportunity to rebuild. I didn't think I really needed to but God knows best and we will obey.
My family and I will temporarily be in Lafayette, Louisiana for a while but will probably relocate to Houston, TX in the future. We already have my Daughter registered in school here.
Lafayette is my

Optimal strategy (add or replace disks) to build a cheap and raidz?
Hello,
i have an 8 port sata-controller and i don''t want to spend the money for 8 x 750 GB Sata Disks
right now. I''m thinking about an optimal way of building a growing raidz-pool without loosing
any data.
As far as i know there are two ways to achieve this:
- Adding 750 GB Disks from time to time. But this would lead to multiple groups with multiple
redundancy/parity disks. I

crosstable and regression for survey data (weighted)
I have survey data that I am working on. I need to make some multi-way tables
and regression analyses on the data. After attaching the data, this is the
code I use for tables for four variables (sweight is the weight variable):
> a <- xtabs(sweight~research.area + gender + a2n2 + age)
> tmp <- ftable(a)
Is this correct? I don't think I need to use the strata and cluster

How do you make a formal "feature" request?
Who decides what features are in R and how they are implemented? If there is someone here who has that authority I have this request:
A report() function analogous to the plot() function that makes it easy to generate a report from a table of data. This should not be in some auxiliary package, but part of the core R just like plot(). As a long time SAS user I cannot believe R does not have this.

[RFC] Semi-Automatic clang-format of files with low frequency
I 100% get that we might not like the decisions clang-format is making, but
how does one overcome this when adding new code? The pre-merge checks
enforce clang-formatting before commit and that's a common review comment
anyway for those who didn't join the pre-merge checking group. I'm just
wondering are we not all following the same guidelines?
Concerns of clang-format not being good

http parser
Just thought I''d let you know that your http parser worked great for
creating an http protocol handler for Eventmachine. It wouldn''t take
that much effort to use Eventmachine for Mongrel, might be worth a
shot just to see how it does. A few things would need to be
restructered, like HttpRequest where you read the rest of the body,
and calling the handler. But it
