* > Mobile Phone > Mobile Network
...this point all the providers in AUS that I have found are charging a Premium Rate for Land Line > Mobile Network services. What I would like to do is be able to purchase a low rate Mobile SIM that I can chuck into a Mobile Phone and have it setup so that I route the Mobile calls through it. Rembering that most if not all mobile phones can be accessed via RS232 interface. Anyone done this or seen it done or know how to do it using * and whatever? Cheers David

1.2 problem 'dovecot -n' vs dovecot.conf
...ent mode: 504 socket: type: listen client: path: /var/spool/postfix/private/dovecot-auth mode: 432 user: postfix group: postfix plugin: sieve: ~/.dovecot.sieve sieve_dir: ~/sieve This in no way represents the settings in my dovecot.conf. It seems to have rembered old .conf settings and mixed them. At no time was mode 504 set or even 432. What am I doing wrong? Thanks. -Walt I'm also toying with the idea of loading 2.x if I can figure out the PPA stuff.

Samba Print Server
Hiya, Can someone explain why I am seeing chmod of W32X86/3/PSCRIPT5.DLL failed (Operation not permitted) in the log files. It is a samba 3.0.1pre3 print server, which has the drivers on it for loading to the clients. Here is the log file of errors. trusted domains - samba user authentification
...estuser). If I create a share on the AIRPORT PDC (WINDOWS NT 4.0) for the user "testuser", I can access it from AIRPORT. If I logon to MAIL, I'm not allowed to access it. If I expnad the user rights to MAIL\testuser I can access again. So far no problem. BUT: If I make a samba share (rember: the samba server is using domain security and it's connected to AIRPORT) for our testuser there is no difference which domain I use for login. If I logon to MAIL I also have access to the Samba Share. It looks like samba makes no difference between MAIL\testuser and AIRPORT\testuser. Now my...

RE: SWAT not working, can't authenticate
Did you make sure localhost resolves? Also, depending on your /etc/resolv.conf, you may have to fully qualify the host's name including the DNS domain. I seem to rember having problems with this, and some combination of using localhost or hostname.domain.edu or using the actual IP address of the host cleared up the problem. directory mask = 2770
Hello everyone. I am using Samba 2.0.7 on a RedHat 6.2 machine. I wanted to apply a directory mask of 2770 to everything created in a share. The root directory of this share already has these permissions. I want to have it so that everything created in a certain directory has the permissions of the group of the creator. As it stands, I do have the directory mask = 2770 line in the smb.conf

Memdisk Ramdisk survive reboot
...t doesnt work for me. Qemm (8, 97)does not work together with harddrive (only floppy) and syslinux. Microsoft's ramdrive DOESNT SURVIVE a reboot (for me). This is very angry, because now I cant use ramdrive.sys for XP( which knows that driver well), to make a ramboot with this attempt. Then I rembered INT19, which can be enabled in Bios on my motherboard Asus P4C800-E Deluxe. INT 19 does a reboot without destroying the content of ram. And that works: I installed Dos6.22 on a 100 MB FAT16 harddisk (first aktiv partition). I copied a file called boot.com (type or paste pure hex thanks to Brad 19...

Using 2SLS to mimic SEM with nested data
...one of the rules of thumb I learned is that the R2 from all first stage regressions should be at least .10. It's not clear to me though what the correspnding criterion would be if I were running a mixed model. I also used a Basman F-statistic to assess model fit when a did a 2SLS. I no longer rember the details of its calculation, but wonder if it translates well to mixed models (or if there are other fit statistics that do). If anyone has knowledge of/experience with this and would be willing to point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul

Re: X-Windows security hole?
...ving the root prompt. > How can disable <Ctrl><Alt>F_n>? Are there other ways to get root > prompt? How much secure is xlock? > Thanks in advance. Roman Garcia. There was talk about allowing a config option to disable console switching on the XFree list. I don''t rember wether that was added or not, and what the option would be. There are several ways to prevent the "root" access you describe. You could use "xdm". That way nobody has to login on a VC to start X. If you don''t have enough memory to allow running xdm all the time, you ca...

Portal behaviour - beginner question
Hello, I''m still reading the Pragmatic pdf for ROR. I intend to port a small web-based soccer simulation game that a friend of mine wrote in php. I still have in mind the basic cart application that can be found in the pdf. The main pages in the game typically display multiple statistical views (past games, player efficiency, ...) In my basic mind, this would involve calling

Ubuntu upstart script ad dc
I am running a samba ad on Ubuntu 16.04 configured as told in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_an_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller The server is running fine currently, but I have to manually start it after every reboot. The link to the upstart scripts in the wiki are dead: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_Init_Script_Examples Does anyone have a functioning init

About hotplug/udev
Hello, The current dependancy on hotplug|udev (>= 0.59) seems bad. As far as I remember, last week, when I tried to install Ralph packages, I got an error from hotplug/udev and I had to use udev from backports.org Anyone know which version of udev/hotplug we will have to depends on ? Maybe we could simply rely on a recent udev dependancy, because afaik udev now provides hotplug. -- Julien
