Samba3 registy based configuration and group policies!?
Dear all,
after a lot of thinking about the registry way of configuring samba I came
about that group policies are especially stored things in the registry.
So my question is it possible to store this settings (group policies) at
status quo in samba3 registry!?

Can I a backup file from the registy before I start the procedure? And how?

ctdb samba and winbind event problem
...ery-log. Then starting sernet-samba-ctdb. The ctdb is starting and
the new host is showing "OK" in "ctdb status".

include = registry
Then "net conf list" is showing the configuration from registy.
smbstatus is showing the same connection as any other of the CTDB-Hosts.
Now I enabled the first event 49.winbind with:

Let the one already in place, and just add the missing ones. Existing
ones won't cause troubles.

Yup.

One easy way to find out is to use lspci -nn in a Linux host running
Qemu with your target configuration.

wine won't read windows .reg files on RH 7.1
...ad
my windows registry files. I obviously have an existing windows partition.
When I run a notepad.exe style app, no problems, but anything more complex
gives me "Can't initialize a certain component, please reinstall" type
message. This makes me think it's not reading my existing registy and thinks
the apps isn't installed. I works fine (well apart from crashing
occasionaly) when I run it in windoze. M$Money and Outlook are two examples.
Anything I should try? I have intalled the RH .rpm.
Thanks.

StarCraft beta downloader folder dialog issues, how to solve
Well, I found this bug with WINE's folder dialog returning something that the StarCraft beta downloader does not expect. So no matter what folder I chose to save the game in it said "Invalid path chosen! Please choose again."
But I can't report it in a useful manner because the beta downloader should not be legally shared.
But I was able to bypass this bug by modifying the

I'm writing because I had a problem with Samba, while installing it on some

We have an internal network not accessible from the outside, in which we
use the sending in the clear (I.E. not encrypted) of the access passwords
to Samba running on a Sun machine with Unix Solaris OS.
We use unencrypted passwords because Windows 95 doesn't support

Is winbindd required for Windows 7 clients
I'm having problems to et windows 7 clients running in my samba 3.4.2 PDC. They always load temporary profiles. WinXP clients are working perfectly. Is winbindd with an LDAP backend required for windows 7 clients? I didn't configure it because it was not necessary for winXP.

Add User Script
I am trying to read in a list of users from a file and automatically create
users from that. Here is what I thought would work:

cat /mnt/PDC1-UsrSync/user.diff | while read Foo; do useradd $Foo; done
Contents of the user.diff file:
dccut
dclam
dcprep
dcshp
But here is what I get when I run the script:

Difficulty with Samba 2.2.8 and native CUPS PS drivers

Going into the registy, at HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Control\Print\

to the various CUPS driver files. I'm not familiar with what all the values
at this location should be set, but I don't see anything obviously broken.
