Tom Short's R cheat sheet

Anyway, I was wondering if there's someone that I can notify that can update the content. R Reference Card (especially useful for Newbies)
Newbies (and others!) may find the R Reference Card made available by Tom Short and Rpad at http://www.rpad.org/Rpad/Rpad-refcard.pdf useful. It categorizes and organizes a bunch of R's (S's) basic, most used functions so that they can be easily found. For example, paste() is under the "Strings" heading and expand.grid() is under "Data Creation." For newbies struggling to find the right R function...

If statements for multiple arrays
...else "NA" But I get "NA" When I tried using a loop: for(i in 1:length(x)) if(x<z && y>z) {aa-z} else "NA" I got "NULL" An attempt at a "while" statement crashed. The time series resource ( http://cran.r-project.org/doc/contrib/Ricci-refcard-ts.pdf) is way too involved. Most online sources I am finding are not good for "if" contingent array manipulation. Annoyingly, just saying aa-z will work across the entire array but for some reason my ifs fail. I know the R help group only wants serious emails so hopefully this will in...

ast package?
According to the extremely helpful reference card for time series analysis provided at: http://cran.r-project.org/doc/contrib/Ricci-refcard-ts.pdf, the ast package is necessary to perform some of the functions. Where can this package be installed from, as I cannot find it from my pulldown list, nor can I find it on the web? Thanks. Maia [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Beginners manual for emacs and ess
Hi I heard so much about Emacs and ESS that I decided to try it out - but I am stuck at the beginning. Is there anywhere a beginners manual for Emacs & ESS to be used with R? even M-x S tells me it can't start S-Plus - obviously - but I want it to start R... Any help welcome (otherwise I will be stuck with Eclipse and R) Rainer -- Rainer M. Krug, Dipl. Phys. (Germany), MSc

newbie: fourier series for time series data
Hi Guys, I had a monthly time series's data of land temperature from 1980 to 2008. After plotting a scatter diagram, it seems that annually, there is a semi sinusoidal cycle. How do I run Fourier's series to the data so that I can fit model on it? I am really sorry for my question sound stupid, but I just don't know where to start. I am desperately looking for help from you guys.

type of object of a variable in a data frame
Hello! I have used read.csv to read in a data frame, and there are a few variables in it, however, when I tried is.list(data$V1) >FALSE In fact, I have tried, they are not vectors either. I'm wondering: 1. What objects are these "lists" of data? 2. How could I find out about the type/inheritence of an object in general? 3. The reason I want it to be a list or vector, is that I

summary of arima model in R
Hi, I want to give a summary or anova for "arima" model in R, as "summary", and "anova" for "lm". As including various intervention factors in arima(xreg = ) part, I want to assess the significancy of thse factors. I can do it using interrupted analysis of time series by linear regression, but want to see whether arima model works for the data first.

Were to find appropriate functions for a given task in R
This is a generic request concerning were to look for finding appropriate information on a precise procedure in R. I’m using R for teaching introductory statistics and my students are learning how to deal with it. However, I find it difficult to locate some of the procedures. For instance, for basic crosstabulation, it is obvious that basic functions as table, ftable, and prop.table can be used.
