Titles changing when a plot is redrawn
...roblem DOES NOT occur under R 2.10.0 on Win32.
If the code below is bracketed with pdf("test.pdf")
and dev.off(), the correct labels appear in the file.
This behavior doesn't seem to appear if there is only
one plot.
My guess is that the titles are being reevaluated when
the plot is redrawn, and since the value of i is 2 when
the redraw occurs, both labels get set to "i=2". I guess
"Save as" forces a redraw because a dialog box pops up?
If could be that this behavior is what is intended, and that
somewhere between R 2.10.0 and R 2.13.2 an old bug was fixed.

Compiz not working properly using nvidia twinview
...p, and sort of works but:
1. I loose the background and it is replace by all white
2. The second monitor draws about 30% of the new white background,
then it ends with a bit of a shadow, and then it continues with black
3. I can drag windows on the second screen and they get redrawn
as I move them as long as I am on the white part, as soon as I go the
black I can see the window, but it leaves a trail of windows, so it is
not redrawing the black part.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

fluxbox, ess and redrawing r windows
Hi,
I'm running Lenny with Fluxbox, interacting with R via Emacs + ESS. An
ongoing aggravation with this setup is trying to get R graphics windows
redrawn.
For example, I may have 8 or 10 R graphics windows open, and I switch
between them using Alt-tab. The problem is, sometimes the windows remain
blank. Sometimes I can get the display back by moving the window with
the mouse, or switching focus away from the window, then returning to
it. Other tim...

ecdf with lots of ties is inefficient (PR#7292)
...ing 100,000 to 20,000,000 numbers. However, they
only contain a few hundred *distinct* numbers (e.g. positive integers < 200).
When I do ecdf(v), it either runs out of memory, or it succeeds, but when I plot
the ecdf with postscript, the output is unnecessarily bloated because the same
lines get redrawn many times. The complexity of ecdf should depend on how many
distinct numbers there are, not how many total numbers.
This is my first bug report, so forgive me if I've done something stupid!

Will radeon or radeonhd work with compiz?
...ially erasing and redrawing each window, but then
it never actually starts. The windows are just left there with no decor. You
can sill provide in put to them, but you cannot move or resize them. Issuing
kwin --replace causes the reverse to happen (windows destroyed, black screen,
windows then redrawn with kde decor.
Does anybody have and idea what's happening and how to fix it? Thanks.

redrawing X11 devices
Hi,
One thing that has always puzzled me using R, via Emacs/ESS on Debian,
is how the graphics windows get (or don't get) redrawn. At the moment
I've got four different X11() windows open, arranged to all fit on the
screen at the same time. However, I have no idea how to get them all
redrawn consistently. What I mean is, if I now switch focus from my main
Emacs window to one of the graphics windows, it may be just an empt...

Wine redraw problem with baldur's gate ii (and others)
...For example, i run xterm and run wine. If i click on the xterm window and
it comes on top of the wine window, after that wine doesn't redraw the
screen. When i click somewhere on the wine window, i hear the dialogue
that happens when the party walks so the game works, just the screen
isn't redrawn.
I didn't want to bother but the problem still exists in wine 1.0 so i thought
to post.
I used git bisect on wine-0.9.52 -> wine-0.9.53 and found the commit that
causes the bug.

Win98 wheelmouse graphics lock problem (PR#906)
Full_Name: Christopher Paul
Version: Version 1.2.2 (2001-02-26)
OS: Win 98
Submission from: (NULL) (4.35.137.70)
Using the GUI, if I make a plot(), click on the graphics window and then use my
wheelmouse to attempt to move up and down the graphics image, the image fails to
redrawn properly, and then entire GUI session "hangs" and needs to be closed. I
wasn't aware how committed to the wheelmouse I had become, but even after
identifying the problem, I kept doing it.

X11 redraw events dropped? (PR#8250)
Full_Name: Keith Frost
Version: 2.1.0
OS: Debian Sarge
Submission from: (NULL) (66.162.141.10)
This has actually been a problem for some time in R under Linux. (I noticed
it under previous builds for Redhat 9 as well.) The graphics device windows
produced by the x11() function do not always get redrawn when they should,
sometimes leaving the device blank when there should be a graph on it.
I do not know for sure that this is an R-specific problem (I suppose the
window manager could be failing to pass along the correct redraw information),
but I thought I'd try to find out if other people...

screen doesn't handle redrawing properly (PR#837)
Hi. As far as I understand it, there is a list of graphic primitives
stored for a device. So for example, when I iconify/deiconify an X11
window, the plot will be redrawn. Now screen (split.screen and
friends) appear not to handle this list properly, the list is reset or
not reset at odd times. The commands below will show clearly what I
mean. There are two effects:
- After splitting the device real estate into two screens, I can
plot on these screens, alt...

Weird graphical glitches while running notes.
...e until i open a mail. Then
i get two frames, one which is supposed to show the usual headers and one
with the body. These are now see-through showing old gfx. However sometimes
when go into edit mode and change the body of the text or do some big changes
then the frame containing the body will get redrawn and shows the content
correctly.
I've checked the winelog, but cannot see anything out of the ordinary errors
i've been seeing since i started using wine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dissappearing gnome terminal contents
...orizontally, both) a gnome-terminal

terminal window in its default background color. Decorations and menu
are drawn as usual. I have to switch to anther window or viewport and
the back to the terminal window before the contents is redrawn. Also,
unmaximizing the terminal window makes the contents visible again.
Actually, activating the switcher and selecting the terminal window is
good enough to make the window contents show again.
The issue is not seen in e.g. urxvt terminal windows (or xterm for that
matter) and it does not occ...

[PATCH] add 'sticky' mode to cube to allow sticky+not-on-bottom windows to stick to the screen when the screen is transformed
I've attached the patch since I don't yet have an easy way to make git
format-patch and kmail play nice together. The basic idea is during a
rotate/other cube transform, 'sticky' windows stick to the screen instead of
being redrawn once per face (its an option, the default is the old behaviour)
Consider this, please, essentially an RFC - this particular behaviour was
available previously in Beryl, and was (at least according to
screenshots/casts) widely used.

changing existing graphs optimally
hi there,
right now i am going about things a round about route with graphs in that if
i want to change the scale to log, I have to to a "reset" with add=F, then
program things to be redrawn from scratch - bad coding basically:P
in plot(), the first arguement it needs is data - how do you reference whats
already there, rather than respecifying (or am i supposed to use a different
function?)
thanks for any pointers!

X11 image problem in R-2.8.0 Under development / R-2.7
I apologize if this is too obscure to reproduce, or some idiosyncratic
aspects of my system. If I create a plot, e.g.,
> plot(1:10)
I get a graphics device as expected. I then click on the 'zoom' box on
my X11 window, so the window expands to occupy the entire screen. The
plot is redrawn at the scale of the large window, but is clipped to the
'unzoomed' size. I only see the top left portion of the plot,
occupying the space of the original image.
Here are the R essentials; I'm using X11 on a recent SuSE, connecting
via a moderately out-of-date cygwin from Windows....

If statement based on a action
...I have a
cancel button on the page.
This cancel button is built with an if statement that looks right now
to see if a parameter exists to define where to go back to if the
user cancel. The problem occurs when the user submits the form and
there are missing fields by validation. The form is redrawn but my
parameter is now gone so it assumes that I was editing on the cancel
as opposed to going back to my list page. When the user clicks on the
button they get an error because there is no id for my object to show
as it does not exist.
basically can you do something like this:
