Good evening every body, I am a new one of this mail list. In my project I have faced a problem. That is when I copied my files from windows2000srv to redhat8 Linux or from redhat8 to windows2000srv by samba(the quantity of file is 26200 and the size is about 750MB) I found that about 10 files lost. The quantity of lost file is changed every time. Would you like to help me? Is this a problem of windows?Or samba?Or the smb.conf of samba? ______________...

howto improve sharpeness of fonts in a jpg-image produced by R ?
Hi. I've done a standard barplotexample using R1-8.0, redhat8, probably using a GhostScript-integration. How can I improve the "sharpness" of the fonts. See for example the barplot (originally jpg coming from R) which is part of this screendump: http://www.zug.dk/Members/Nielssteenkrogh/1067525916309553166/element_103003161029 I'm not sure w...

2 gigabyte issue
I am running RedHat8, samba 2.2.7 The mailing list archives seem to pin the 2gb problem on several unrelated issues (all of which i explored). The machines in question have no problems creating 2+gb files locally and via NFS. Is this an issue with smbfs? smbmount? anyone have a workaround? -- 'As we enjoy grea...

Freedomaudio player
Hi folks Got Icecast2 running on Redhat8 with IceS2 as a source, streaming some OGG files. All works nicely (not _especially_ reliable :) but it seems to lock up the Freedomaudio java player between tracks. Everytime a new file begins, the player stops and says 'Loading'. I'm wondering if it's somehthing to do with metadat...

copy of smbpasswd
Hi, I have to move our old samba file server to a new machine. The old samba server was a RedHat8 with samba 2.2.5. The new one is SLES9 with samba 3.0.2b-3.4 SuSE Is there a way to re-use the old smbpasswd file? In the log-files I can see that the authentication fails when I try to access a shared folder. A windows client keeps on asking the login and password. Is it possible to re-use t...

pxelinux -> pxeboot load?
Hi all, I've searched the depths of the resources on the internet; however I'm having trouble deploying a pxeboot solution via pxelinux. So far what I have successfully implemented in my infrastructure is a successful pxeboot setup for FreeBSD ( without the use of pxelinux ). I'd ultimately like to have a solution that will allow me to choose a network install of various Unix-like

Filesystem returned to state of six months ago after fsck
Recently our sysadm accidentally powercycled our server (RedHat8) after 198 days of uptime, and upon boot it insisted on checking one partition (/dev/sda7) in our RAID. When it was done, the files were in the state of August 23 last year, with anything newer either gone or invisible. I guess something went wrong with journaling data. What can I do to restore the...

problems with R-2.01 build with Mandrake 10.1
...To my surprise I discovered that the X11() command returned an error to the effect that X was not available. Examining R config.log I noticed that there were several complaints about X and tcl in there. Basic include files, such as X11/X.h were not found. I have previously compiled R-2.0.1 on a RedHat8 station and that one ran without any problems. Does anyone know if there is an issue pertaining to X windows system that might make harder to compile R on mandrake than on redhat. Are there any specific rpms that need to be included before I can compile R so it includes X I understand that Mandra...

CAPI, BRI and grouping B channels
Dear All, I have a working asterisk installation in the UK on BRI point-to-point. I am using Redhat8 with one Eicon Diva Server 2.0 card with chan_capi-0.3.5 and Asterisk 1.0.1. I have got to the stage where I can make and receive calls over ISDN. My question: How do I group the 2 B channels so that when one channel is in use, the other channel is availble to receive[make] an incoming[outgoing]...
