distro recommedation
Hi guys,
what distribution do you recommend, if you want to run producive systems
on it. i got a cluster with two sles10sp2 nodes - but i''m not that
satisfied. The migration of my windows-systems are not working in an
acceptable way and the pv-drivers for win of suse are not a speed boost
at all. Well I could spend big money for Xen Enterprise or VirtualIron
- but - do I really have to

Current Chipset Compatibility
Can someone make a recommedation as far as best chipset for Centos 5.0 or 5..1 using a Q6600 series CPU?with chipsets that have onboard VGA??
From poking around it looks like the G33 and P35 are not supported or have problems until the newer 2.6.22 kernel (the?iso's appear to be earlier than that, think it was?.18)?? So I am considering boards with the Intel G965 chipset but not sure if is

[PATCH] lua: always return luaL_error in actions
Even if luaL_error is a "no return" function for the Lua runtime, adopt
also in action functions the "return" idiom recommeded for it.
This also helps code analyzers in not thinking that "g" might still be
null after the null check followed by luaL_error.

Centos 4.3: VPN recommend/ howto anyone?
Hi,
I'm just curious about setting up a new VPN here in the office part of our
enterprise, as well as a second in our 75+ node data center co-location
facility.
Needing to stomp out the ****dows L2TP node here, just too many
side-issues with config.
I'd like it to run the same OS as all of our servers, e.g. Centos 4.3.
Any recommedations on which software/server/client

Maintaining a selection list
...lect("user", "security_code", options) %></p>
When rendered by the New controller everything is OK. When rendered by
the Edit controller, the "Select security question" is the default
option. I want the the current code displayed as the default. Is there a
recommeded RoR approach, or must I code the options variable as
required.

What type of DCs are these two servers? Some kind of two Primary or
Master DC each one? Shouldn't I have a PDC and a BDC? (I thought this
the recommeded setup for DCs). Please let me know if I'm doing
anything wrong here.
I'm going to check if samba_dnsupdate error messages dissapear in the
following minutes/hours after synchronizing both servers using NTP,
but I don't know what caused this error. Was it really caused by time

Fix for crash at exit
Hi
This is a very small patch that seems to solve that "Exit the app and
get a segfault in return" problem.
Another thing: bigdemo.rb:395 does
item = event.get_item()
if item.is_ok
but get_item typemaps TreeItemId into a plain integer, so it doesn''t
have is_ok method anymore, is there
any wxruby2''yish solution to this kind of problem ?
A.K.

dpt_i2o almost there
Hi all!
I''m using make world as recommeded and it compiles fine, then
changed the dpti2o config option to ''y'' and recompiled with
ARCH=xen make.
The xen0 freeze on reading dpti2o tables and I can''t get any
output with sysrq (enabled too). Compiling original 2.6.7
works fine.
Any idea?
Thanks!

An R SPAM Filter
Hi,
I'm just wondering does anyone know of a good site that would assist me in
creating a spam filter through R? It is for a college project. I have
searched the net but cannot find anything of relevance. Any help would be
greatly appreciated....
Regards,

Server Hacked: Cpanel
...have already decided to avoid Cpanel on Centos as it is, -my server that was hacked with Cpanel was not a Centos box, and those that have it, have been shut down.
The server next to it was *also* hacked, and that *was* a centos machine, with only a yum update from 3 days prior. Is it really recommeded that I run yum update evry night then? It was stunning to have a box up for 3 days and then get owned so fast.
Luckily this was for my personal business entity, and not my full-time job, which indeed does run 50-70 Centos servers behind layers of firewalls and other protections, and *no* com...

weighted likelihood for lme
Dear R users,
I'm trying to fit a simple random intercept model with a fixed intercept.
Suppose I want to assign a weight w_i to the i-th contribute to the log-likelihood, i.e.
w_i * logLik_i
where logLik_i is the log-likelihood for the i-th subject.
I want to maximize the likelihood for N subjects
Sum_i {w_i * logLik_i}
Here is a simple example to reproduce

xen version compatibility
If I have a linux kernel on dom0 from xen 3.0.2 and my xen binary is
version 3.1.0, can I expect things to work? What about if my dom0
kernel and xen binary are both 3.1.0 and I have a para virt domU with
xen 3.0.2 code in? What about if the tools are from a different
version of xen?
I''m asking because I''m running fedora 6 and I''d like to try out xen
3.1.0 or 3.0.4
