pan news reader
Does anyone know if the pan news reader works
on CentOS 5.4? I am considering installing
version 0.132 that I downloaded from
pan.rebelbase.com .
Thanks for your advice.
Mike.

What is the recommended method to obtain Pan 0.136+ (with SSL) for Centos 6?
...com/photo/a/12878464/img/12878464.png
But I do find the later Pan RPMs in later Fedora releases:
http://pkgs.org/download/pan (e.g., Fedora 17 & 18 have later RPMs):

Or, I can compile Pan version 0.139 from source code:

Given these seem to be my choices (and, given that only about half my compiles
ever work); may I ask first the basic question:

Pan in 6.2??
I can't seem to get a way to install Pan in CentOS, and I need it
badly. I follow most busy lists, including this one, on Gmane using Pan
(and, no, Gmane per Web is no use to me. I have some obscure allergy to
webmail).
Does anyone know an rpm (one of Fedora's, for instance) that I
can install and not immerse myself in dependency hell?

Whence Pan??
Yum fails to install Pan, and neither epel nor rebelbase.com
seems to have an rpm for it. Why not? And can I get an rpm somewhere
else? Or am I doing something obviously wrong that I don't see??

Agent 3.3 on Linux?
I dual boot WinXP and Fedora Linux and would like to run Agent 3.3 when
I boot to Fedora. Has anyone successfully installed WINE (codeweavers?)
on Linux and gotten the current Agent to function? What has your
experience been? What problems have you encountered?
I've seen very little discussion in the newsgroup. The web page that
Mark Prince pointed to a few years ago is no longer active:

Small Solaris build problem + solution
Hi all,
I couldn't get vorbis/lib to build on a Solaris box because of the use of
`u_int32_t' in vorbis/lib/framing.c. Someone with commit access may want
to consider changing these to the posix `uint32_t'.
cheers,
Charles

Patch to get libvorbis 1.0b4 to build on Solaris 2.7
Apps building against libvorbis 1.0b4 will fail to link on Solaris 2.7
because libvorbis uses atanf, sqrtf, etc., which aren't available on
that platform.
In lib/os.h, there are a couple of workarounds (ifdef DARWIN, ifndef GNUC),
but I'm building on Solaris with gcc, so this doesn't help me any. :)
Attached is a patch to configure.in which checks for sqrtf in libm, and
if it finds

Solaris UseLogin problem
I was having problems getting the UseLogin option to work
on Solaris.
I would recieve this error:
No utmpx entry. You must exec "login" from the lowest level "shell".
This led me to believe that Solaris login wants a utmpx entry in
order to function. I put together a patch that calls record_login
on Solaris when using the system login. I also noticed that writing
a wtmpx
