OT -- apcupsd messages
Does anyone here have any "feel" for the "Battery disconnected" and "Battery reattached" log entries? The rebooting came as a result of me turning off modems, router, external drives, monitor, cordless phone and finally, the computer, trying to locate a quiet but annoying "chirp". The "chirps" stopped when I tilted the UPS to look at the front panel. As...

How to reattach to a failed ssh session or process

Example: 3441 pts/0 S+ 0:00 nano /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf I remotely connect to a machine via ssh and started to edit apache conf and i did not used screen (me bad). The session timed out due to an internet glitch and I got disconnected. How can I reattach (speaking in screen terms) to that ssh session or gain control to the nano process (or any other)? [PATCH] virtio-blk: Don't free ida when disk is in use
When a file system is mounted on a virtio-blk disk, we then remove it and then reattach it, the reattached disk gets the same disk name and ids as the hot removed one. This leads to very nasty effects - mostly rendering the newly attached device completely unusable. Trying what happens when I do the same thing with a USB device, I saw that the sd node simply doesn't get free'...

ZFS Raidz2 problem, detached drive
...pool showed two instances for the same drive, one as failed with corrupt data, the other as online but still in a degraded state as the spare had been utilized. I tried a zpool clear device, zpool scrub, zpool replace all with no joy...then and i kick myself now i thought i ''ll detach and reattach the drive.... Drive detached no problem, no questions asked, failed drive still in zpool status, online one gone, reattach dosn''t seem possible. As a temporary solution in case of further failures i''ve attached the new drive as a hot spare... My question is....how do i reattach...

FS corruption under ext3
...equently (days to months) and read as part of every user command. The directory is under /etc and always has the same path. So far, we have had three separate customers with this problem and we have observed it once ourselves. One of our customers was able to use the ext2 filesystem editor and reattach the orphaned inode, recovering his data. When we observed it here, fsck -f (ext2 and ext3) didn't find anything wrong with the filesystem. We are running Debian woody (stable) with a 2.4.18 kernel. We haven't had reports of other files vanishing, just this one directory and only under...

isoMDS and dist
...istics including ID# and elevation. I removed elevation and ID columns to avoid having those characteristics influence the distances between points which I calculated using the "dist" command. The resulting distance file was then used in isoMDS. What I want to know is whether I can reattach the ID and elevation onto the point location information given from isoMDS? or is it possible that the order given in the isoMDS output is not the same as the order of the original data used to calculate distances? Replace brick of a dead node
Hi! Seeking pardon from the experts, but I have a basic usage question that I could not find a straightforward answer to. I have a two node cluster, with two bricks replicated, one on each node. Lets say one of the node dies and is unreachable. I want to be able to spin a new node and replace the dead node's brick to a location on the new node. The command 'gluster volume

Help needed: plotting with no device
...y, used the "screen" program to start a shell. Ran R. Then, from a remote computer, used ssh to log in (without X forwarding enabled). Grabbed the session by doing screen -d -r. (screen lets you trade the controlling tty of a session; that's why I was using it). After detaching and reattaching the session a couple of times (still remote) I did > hist(tres4$singles[["a"]]) tres4$singles is a dataframe. I can still type on the terminal, but get no response. R 1.7.1 on Debian. Is there any way to get the R session back without killing it? Thanks.

How do you "re-attach" a 3 disk RAIDZ array to a new OS installation?
...separate NTFS formatted disk onto the array using NTFS-3G. However, the single disk that was used for the OS installation has since died (it was very old) and I have had to reinstall 2008.11 from scratch onto a new disk. I would like to retain the data on those 3 disks (the RAIDZ array) and "reattach" (what''s the correct terminology here?) them to the new OS installation without losing any data. As I''m unsure of the terminology I should be using I''ve been unable to find anything by searching either online or in the forums. Any assistance would be greatly receiv...

2.6.0 bcmxcp_usb recovery question
...able unplug-plug correctly. Does anyone know if this has been fixed in subsequent releases? Here are the details. When the USB cable between my server and my PW5115 UPS is removed, bcmxcp_usb reports DATASTALE (as it should) and continues to respond to PING (as it should). When the USB cable is reattached, bcmxcp_usb continues to report DATASTALE in response to DUMPALL even though lsusb indicates that the PW5115 is indeed connected and DATAOK is never reported in response to DUMPALL. If I restart the bcmxcp_usb driver with upsdrvctl then it recovers the connection to the UPS. The bcmxcp_usb 2.4....

mismatch_cnt after 5.3 -> 5.4 upgrade
...today's perl thread) yum update perl.x86_64 yum update shutdown -r now I've taken a backup of /boot dump after the upgrade, but have not yet reenabled normal backups. My hunch is that something in the upgrade process touched sda1 but not sdb1, and that removing sdb1 from the mirror and reattaching it for resync would be sufficient, however I was looking for comments on this from anyone with experience or opinion on the matter. Googling the issue doesn't seem to turn up any recent related results. Also, could the upgrade have touched the bootblock on sda1 but not sdb1 and thus trig...
