How to use Readymade plugins?????
Hi,
I have downloaded "Ruby on Rails validator plugin for password fields".
& they have specified that for using it we have to unzip it in plugins
directory of your rails application. But I cant find the plugin
directory in my Rails Application. Also there is plugin directory in
Rails server installation directory:-"C:\local\ruby\freeride\plugins\".

Stopping new directory creation ?
Hi, I've been looking for a way to stop users creating new sub-directories
under a top level (shared) directory - which will need to contain 3
readymade directories and/or to stop users placing files outside the 3
readymade directories.
Is this at all possible ?
Got a really basic system - Slackware 8.0 and Samba 2.2.8a running purely as
a fileserver for Win2k clients.
Thanks
Mike

Question about ssh-askpass
...to use ssh as a subprocess, and I'm looking for a generic way
of passing passphrase. So far as I know, in SSH Communications'
implementation of SSH, ssh invokes ssh-askpass as well as
ssh-add does. Lacking of this is just because of security reason?
Are there any plans to use some kind of readymade option parsing
routine--such as getopt?
Thank you,

Shapiro-Wilk cpoefficients: 2 Qs
Greetings!
I want to have the coefficients that R uses in shapiro.test()
for the Shapiro-Wilk test for a prticular sample size, i.e.
the a[i] in
W = Sum(a[i]*x[i])/(Sum(x[i] - mean(x))^2)
(where the x[i] are sorted). Two questions:
Q1:
Is there a readymade R function from which I can extract these?
Q2:
I was wondering if I might be able to modify the code for the
function shapiro.test() so as to obtain these. When I enter
shapiro.test
I get:
function (x)
{
DNAME <- deparse(substitute(x))
x <- sort(x[complete.cases(x)])
stopif...

simple ogg video joiner GUI for windows
...all,
i have written a detailed explanation below bu in short, we need a simple free gui for windows to join several ogg files end by end to make one ogg file out of it for an art project. you can see more explanation below...
i am working on an art projects with some art students called "readymade dictionary of the author: a copyleft crowdsourcing free/open source project" where we shoot people saying just one word to the camera. these words are from famous quotes and once we have all the words shot everybody will be able to make their own quotes out of these by remixing them. it is con...

Linux words file
Dear R People:
I have a small function that solves the "Jumble" puzzle from the
newspaper (I know...big deal). It uses the the Linux "words" file.
My question is: is there a similar words file for Windows, please?
Thanks,
Happy New (Gnu) Year.
Sincerely,
Erin

Measuring dispersion
Hi,
I'm looking for a function to measure the dispersion of a set of
values ranging from 0 to 1.
This function should be 0 if all the values are evenly spaced within
the interval and it should be > 0 if values are clustered.
The more clustered the values are, the higher should the function be.
An example:
[0; 0.2; 0.4; 0.6; 0.8; 1] - function should be ~ 0
[0; 0.1; 0.1; 0.15; 1] -

expand.grid
...d all _present_ combinations of the factor levels (e.g. if
I would do this for the first 4 rows of dfr, it would contain no
combinations with c3="k"). It would also be nice to be able to choose
whether or not NA''s are included.
I''m convinced that some package holds a readymade solution, and I''m trying
to switch from always writing my own stuff (get the number of levels per
column, then use some apply magic) to using what is there, so thanks for any
hints,

We're talking about the people with commit access to the main repo. No
commit access still needs someone with commit access to push/merge.

RFC: Move the test-suite LLVM project to GitHub?
...d patches, so you can take
the discussion there. Particularly if the git hoster gives you all the
web forum thingies you want, including the ability to be helpful with
Markdown.
Also, a PR is easy to integrate once it's done.
So while the PR route is very, very unattractive if there's a readymade
patch that you just need to integrate, it's a useful tool while the
patch is being built, assuming the PR runs through a website that offers
a discussion. It's just very slick if you don't have to quote some code
just to say "I'd like to have xxx changed on line 512 of that...

Metadata syntax (was Universal syntax for Markdown)
So, hi all. First time commenting on the list.
I personally think having tags (whether of type "author:" or type "by")
is useful for two reasons.
One: It allows multiple tags to be entered. Two, it clears up the
potential problem listed by Fletcher regarding tags.
