...39;t - I kept getting "in use" - it seemed like a circular reference. As I said, I rebooted. Then I ran the proprietary build, ran fine. I try starting the graphical target, no joy. I changed the default target back to graphical, and rebooted. Still no xorg. Googling (yahooing?), I added rdblacklist=nouveau in grub.conf, *then* had to rebuild the grub2 (grub2 must *die*). Still wouldn't see the nvidia drivers on reboot. Finally, I rebuild the initramfs, which got the now-built and installed nvidia drivers (and I'd yum uninstalled nouveau), and finally, it came up. Oh, and for some re...

nouveau driver one centos 6
I "wish" to not load the or even install the nouveau driver by default. I want to use the NVIDIA binary driver. I have tried a number of things: 1) in my kickstart package section add the line: -xorg-x11-drv-nouveau This did not work - it was still installed. 2) use the nvidia installer and it asks to create a modprobe.conf file to blacklist the driver. I said yes thats what I want.

Kickstart with multiple eth devices
...at order your best bet may be to blacklist the kernel module for the add in card so it does not get enumerated during install. If you do that and create the udev rules file as I do then on first boot udev should enforce your rules file and then enumerate the add in card as eth2. Add "rdblacklist=MODULE_NAME" to your append line in pxelinux.conf file. This should get you into a usable state post-install so you can setup additional interfaces. > > Looking at persistent-net.rules, it always puts the additional card > first, both without your script as well as with. Strange crash after NVidia driver installation from ELRepo
Hi, I just had the weirdest of system crashed. Here goes. I wanted to install a desktop step by step, as I usually do. First the base system, then the X Window System, then the WindowMaker window manager. Everything went OK, then I installed kmod-nvidia from ELRepo. Yum informed me that the driver conflicted with x11-glamor (something like that), so I removed the corresponding package.

Strange crash after NVidia driver installation from ELRepo
...l? So it wasn't nothing. What exactly did it do? Did it drop into the rescue shell? Did it kernel panic? Did you see some text then the screen blanked? Did you try older any older kernels that might have been loaded? One of the things that the nvidia driver adds is "nouveau.modeset=0 rdblacklist=nouveau" to the kernel arguments. Do you see them? I know that we saw the kernel panic when the nouveau driver was loaded on a el6.6 system with an NVidia K620, so perhaps when you brought in X11 you also installed the nouveau drivers? -- Jonathan Billings <billings at negate.org>
