Mem_event API and MEM_EVENT_REASON_SINGLESTEP
...on, and then disable writes again. Two questions: 1. I haven''t been able to find an example of how single-stepping via the mem_event API might work. Can you point me to some code that does this (or a paper, etc.)? 2. Is there any other way to achieve what I''m after? Thanks, Razvan Cojocaru

[LLVMdev] patch for building llvm on Windows with MSVC 2008
...modes. If there is no someone else to keep the MSVC projects files updated, I will try from time to time to update them and to add the new targets. Maybe a note must be put in "docs/GettingStartedVS.html" at the Requirements section that llvm needs now MSVC (Express) 2008 to compile. [LLVMdev] 2.3 Pre-release available for testing
This is my patch for MSVC 2008 and it was applied by Chris: http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20080512/062390.html I tested it and it is ok for the 2.3 release. [LLVMdev] building llvm on Windows
...sn't able to fix it. I hope these will be fixed on the final 2.3 release so it can be compiled out of the box on MSVC Express 2008. Now I'm checking on some Windows assemblers and other tools which can complete llvm to make it a full backend (with the final result an exe or dll file). Razvan PS: I also tried to compile llvm 2.3 in MSYS using the latest MinGW with gcc 4.3.0. This wasn't able to compile llvm at all because some errors like: d:\msys\bin\../lib/gcc/i386-pc-mingw32/4.3.0/include/c++/bits/boost_concept_check.h: In member function 'bool __gnu_cxx::_EqualOpConcept&...

There have been several patches applied recently to TOT to allow MSVC 2005 which I think many people are using. Does this patch mean that one can only use MSVC 2008? -Tanya > > Razvan > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Tanya Lattner" <tonic at nondot.org> > To: "LLVM Developers Mailing List" <llvmdev at cs.uiuc.edu> > Sent: Tuesday, May 20, 2008 7:40 AM > Subject: Re: [LLVMdev] 2.3 Pre-release available for testing > &g...

[LLVMdev] GPL licensing issues or can GCC be used with llvm for a commercial application?
...its compiler with GCC is a very dangerous decision. If I am myself in that situation I should not do it, but instead I should try to use a non-GPL assembler and linker. So, from my point of view, the necessity of an I86 native target who address a BSD-like licensed assembler, strongly remains. Razvan

I can also come up with technical details about the differences in behavior between a Windows Server and a Samba server on the problematic operations. ...gh) and take the second option from the 3 you provided. P.S. : after searching a bit more, it seems that llvm is in fact the only toolchain that rejects/complains about the bts ambiguity, or at least people using llvm get annoyed more easily and start spamming mailing lists :). -- Sincerely, Razvan Ghitulete

[PATCH V4] mem_event: Add support for MEM_EVENT_REASON_MSR
...ins the MSR address (in addition to event.gfn, which holds the value). MEM_EVENT_REASON_MSR does not honour the HVMPME_onchangeonly bit, as doing so would complicate the hvm_msr_write_intercept() switch-based handling of writes for different MSR addresses, with little added benefit. ...as llvm* assembler maybe is not really perceived, I think it will arise sharply when the clang will be production ready. In that respect, if someone can adapt the MASM templates to produce NASM directives (it is the only thing that needs to be changed), these updates will be more than welcome. It is very simple to add it, following the model of the current projects in solution, but I don't want to make these now.
