Common setup code and naming specifications
Hello!
I have a lot of contexts for testing Rails controllers, that must do
something like ''session[:logged_in] = true'' in their setup. How can this
be refactored? In unit tests I would simply create a
LoggedInControllerTest base class, that all my functional tests would
derive from.
And another small question:
In my controller specifications I often have to decide whether to

alias method spec?
I am completely baffled by this one - My guess is that there is no
pure ruby way to do this - but how could I set up a spec to test that
one method is an alias of another?
Thanks for any help,

plain text stories: motivation number 27
This is mostly theoretical, but ...
I''m starting to use lighthouse (http://llighthouseapp.com) for my
projects at work. I''m organizing iterations as milestones and stories
as tickets tagged to a milestone.
Lighthouse offers an API so that you can write access the data in your
account and write apps to process that data.
I think you see where this is going.
It seems to me that

it_should_behave_like
I''m trying to use it_should_behave_like, and something seems to be wonky
with the syntax. When I add :shared=>true, the DSL complains that the next

`method_missing'': undefined method `fixtures'' for

Updates for Cluster Suite 4?
Understanding that much work is probably being done on Centos 5, are
there plans to keep Cluster Suite's files updated? Specifically, the
kernel modules haven't been recompiled for newer kernel versions.
I'm going to recompile them myself from the SRPMS, but was wondering
about the future...
Thanks,

Warm reboot failure
I recently bought a new Compaq Presario sr1710nx with 64-bit Sempron
and last week installed Centos 4.3 64-bit on it.
Worked like a champ until I attempted a reboot (using "init 6") and
the computer hung after finishing the shutdown. Rebooting from cold
worked, but without a warm reboot I was hesitant to use Centos. Since
FC5 (64-bit as well) came out recently, I tried it and

The elephant in the room: Oracle
So what does everyone else think of Oracle's announcement? http://
developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/10/25/2316221
I kind of think that they are going to be hurting RedHat (a valuable
partner if you believe their deployment numbers).
Oh silly, silly Larry. I guess the only hope that we have is that it
actually increases mind share of RHEL and hence broader support for
it (and
