(off-topic)Update sii-3512A serial ata controller - which flash memory?
Hi.
I had to update the BIOS of a Silicon Image 3512A Serial ATA controller.
I''m not using RAID.
When I run the updater program (updflash.exe), it asks me to choose
flash memory from a list, something like: AMD Am29F010B (1 Megabit), AMD
Am29LV01B (1 Megabit), etc.
How can I find out which is flash memory of the controller?
Thanks

Problem with japanese programs
...nese painting program aimed mainly for RPG Maker and the like).
Now on Windows, it used the default system font, but when I run it under Wine it uses an ugly handwriting font.
Is there a way to fix this problem?
It also happens with several programs which were originally in japanese (such as Melody Raiser [from the same author] and PSX Multi Converter [A program to play music videos and view images from Playstation CDs]).

samba blamed for network problems (help!)
Howdy folks:
Hi. It's me again. I've posted before about browsing problems, etc.
Here's the setup:
An isolated LAN (most clients have modems for dialling out) with
one linux/samba machine (RedHat 4.2, kernel 2.0.30, samba 1.9.18p8)
and ~20 win95 (OSR/2.1) clients. We used to have Netware 4.11
until the new PC/lan guy decided we didn't it any more (our old

File sharing is ok, but new ADS user validation is not ok
...the MS file sharing and

hosts and resolve files are also the same except for the machines' IP
and name.
Both Samba installs are successfully serving files using ADS
credentials from XP machines with file permissions assigned on raiser
file systems with ADS IDs.
But all is not well. The SuSE SP2 64bit machine ("Bad Samba") will
not allow me to do commands like these:
wbinfo -i <ads id> or wbinfo -r <ads id)

Mirror Mirror on the wall, who is the slowest of them all? CentOS
Some of the other RHEL rebuilds take one or two days, while CentOS
takes
2 weeks. While i can't say if they have more than a hundred users,
their
speed in releasing quarterly updates is commendable.
Technically CentOS is not the slowest, as Whitebox takes the wooden
spoon but you get the general idea. :)

Dell Servers
Hi,
I was planning on getting a Dell PowerEdge 2950 for our new Asterisk
configuration.
But while searching for documentation about it and/or reported issues, I
found this:

WARNING - many Dell motherboards use the e1000 gigabit ethernet chipset,
which has been known to cause random locksup - if you plan on using a

Bind Variables in Active Record
OK, I have some basic functionality to support bind variables, it
appears to work with the ''old'' %s style too.
I''ve altered sanitize_conditions in
activerecord/lib/active_record/base.rb to check whether bind variables
are in the statement (/\?/). If they are, replace all the ?s to
escaped values from the arguments array. else santize and expand.
There are a few
