Unknown Files in /tmp
Hi All,
2 days ago, I used skype on my laptop, which hadn't seen the net before
then. I successfully spoke with my mother, and had no problems.
Yesterday, I had what I believe was an unauthorized access to my laptop,
so, I changed all passwds on my smoothwall box, and also put the local
host onto a new subnet. Today, I experienced some weirdness with skype,
where, I could hear/be heard,

RPM for postgresql 8-* for CentOS4?
Hi All,
is there an RPM for 4-1 for postgresql? I did a yum, and the latest is
only 7-4
Installing:
postgresql-server i386 7.4.8-1.RHEL4.1 base 3.0 M
and I need at least 8-*
Any ideas where to find an RPM for CentOS4-1?

[LLVMdev] MCJIT or ORC JIT for new project?
Hi,
For a new language I am developing (in the very early stages, nothing public
posted yet) I would like to able to use a JIT for several purposes:
1) Create a functional REPL as is done is done with in the Kaleidoscope
tutorial.
2) Be able to interpret my language in addition to compiling.
3) While compiling, be able to execute arbitrary code at compile time. The

Can't Access Samba Running Linux Box From XP
Hi All,
I've just installed Samba on a Linux box, and can see the Windows box
attempting connections, but, when inputting the username/password, I
keep getting the same user/pass prompt window. What should I
troubleshoot for this? I gave the user/pass that is the same as the
account on the Linux box, which has permissions to view the shared
directory in /etc/samba/smb.conf. Cheers.

Default CentOS(Redhat) iptables, Secure?
Hi All,
whilst not being an expert on iptables, the below ouput of iptables -L
seems too insecure to me. Does anyone agree.? Perhaps I'm not
understanding it as well as I think I am.? Please give your thoughts on

Is Rails a good place to start for a newb to the database
Is Rails a good place to start for a newb to the database world ??
I need to make a database that is searchable with multiple filters that
can be turned on and off at a moments notice kinda like java xhtml
dynamic loading..

I am building bindings for LLVM in Racket, and was wondering how does memory management work for the C API. I'm guessing that when a module is disposed of all of the instructions and functions that were inside it are no longer valid, similarly with contexts and types. Open CallerID Database?
Hey Guys,
I'm curious if there's an interest in a free, CallerID database? For those
of you in the same spot we are, our current provider only provides us with
the CND, excluding CNAM.
Would creating a public database, managed by users be worthwhile to anyone?

Verizon-Vonage Lawsuit
May be slightly off topic, but I was wondering what everyone thinks of this
latest ruling against Vonage? Does anyone really know what Verizon hold
patents for, and could those patents possible affect anything in Asterisk?
Who knows who Verizon will go after next.
