Windows Xen VM's have high guest CPU usage and poor performance
...have one VM running.
I now have 32 VM's running on the machine and dom0's cpu usage as
reported by xm top is 622%. It seems like Xen is just performing poorly
while handling these Windows VMs. Any suggestions? I have Windows VM's
on other hardware (typically PowerEdge R905s and R710s and they seem ok).
This 2950 is a decent machine.. 32G RAM, 2x Xeon E5405 (quad core) at
2ghz. And I'm only allocating 1 CPU and 768MB RAM for each VM.
Sample config:
name = "win01n"
maxmem = 768
memory = 768
vcpus = 1
builder = "hvm"
kernel = "/usr/lib/xen/boot/hv...

I agree with you but circumstances (such as I retired) made me change my
mind. I have Dell R710s one of which functions as my AD as well as
performing other server tasks. I prefer to run CentOS 7 but given RHEL's
refusal to support Samba AD functionality I have been using the Sernet
packages. I thought if I used the RPI3s for the AD I could use the Samba
source directly. I only use the...

What is the purpose setting console=hvc0 in the dom0 grub config?
Howdy,
I recently went through a frustrating experience trying to get Xen 4
running on a CentOS 7 system. After a fresh install, fully updating the
system, rebooting, then trying to install Xen4CentOS it would fail to boot
into the 4.9 kernel, sitting there with a blinking cursor indefinitely.
I thought it was a failure with grub, but it turns out this was set in the
grub config:

Check the BIOS to see if Hyperthreading is disabled. If so, enable it. I
had some Dell server (Dell R710s and R610s) that I finally figured out
would not boot like you describe when HT is off for some reason.

Raspberry Pi Version of Samba?
A few months ago, I built a samba 4 DC on a RPi 2B v1.1 with Louis'
packages.
It's just like a normal Intel cpu based installation with a couple of minor
exceptions.
I built mine on Raspbian Lite. You'll have to add an additional user and
give it sudo privileges.The network setup was like the older Debian 9 by
simply adjusting /etc/network/interfaces. To add Louis' repo
