Samba DC join fails - IPv4/IPv6 issue
Hi list,
I just tried to add a second DC to an existing Samba4 domain using samba-tool
(both hosts run latest samba4 git version).
But the join failed, complaining about being unable to find a writeable DC:
root at elektron:~# /opt/samba4/bin/samba-tool domain join linex.r00t.la DC
Finding a writeable DC for domain 'linex.r00t.la'

Very strange problem i have faced in my 2 years carrier
...i was amazed how was it
possible. In the Evening i came back to office. I boot the machine in single
user mode and type the command;
less /etc/passwd
here when i found that user root existed, but the only thing that was
amazing is;
the spelling of root was changed from "root" to "R00t". i changed to "root"
and every thing worked.
I want to ask, what is this, this doesnot seem a garbage value or nor
corruption of passwd file. only showing someone changes this. Here we have
bank private network, only two people have access for it me and another
guy.

RE: Feature request? Auto start vm upon next shutdown

This should 'solve' that if you change hardware you have to wait for the
guest to shutdown and then start the guest manually.
I would not know what level this can best be implemented.

It doesn't seem to be possible if readline is enabled and works
correctly.
Calls to path.expand [1] end up [2] in R_ExpandFileName [3], which
calls R_ExpandFileName_readline

R-4.3 version list.files function could not work correctly in chinese
...In
the same discussion another person mentioned that the problem could also be
related to the file encoding, i.e., if the file content is encoded in
UTF-8, it could be recognized by dir(), but not in ANSI.

RE: virsh attach-interface auto up
...ctly, depends on the OS of the guest having hotplug
support for the NIC you have selected for it.
It takes a couple seconds, but I can generally detach and re-attach an
interface in CentOS Linux, for instance, with only about a 2-5 second
hiccup in network traffic.

tools::parseLatex() crashes on "\\verb{}"
...39;t like `\verb!foo!` so maybe roxygen2
is actually doing the right thing (as opposed to just trying to) ?
`parse_Rd() ` is probably what I need indeed, for some reason I hadn't
found it, so that should fix my own issue here thanks a lot.

tab-complete for non-syntactic names could attempt backtick-wrapping
There turn out to be a few more things to fix.
One problem is easy to solve: vapply() needs a third argument
specifying the type of the return value. (Can we have unit tests for
tab completion?)
The other problem is harder: `comps` defaults to an empty string, and
you can't have a symbol consisting of an empty string, because this
value is internally reserved for missing function arguments.

Howto: Extremely tight security rsync shell for backups
...rever to back up all our servers and it's
worked without a problem. But in a recent security review, we noted that
our specific rsync backup host is using root keys to access the server,
meaning that if the keys on the backup server were leaked/compromised in
any fashion, that would provide r00t access to the servers being backed up.
Since this doesn't seem to be readily documented, I thought I'd provide
it to the community.
After some playing around, we've found it is possible to set up
rsync/ssh so that the connecting server can ONLY run rsync with a
predetermined set of...

[Bug 3544] New: Support CIDR notation for host pattern matching
...Product: Portable OpenSSH
Version: 9.1p1
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P5
Component: Miscellaneous
Assignee: unassigned-bugs at mindrot.org
Reporter: bts at square-r00t.net
(I considered putting this in ssh-keygen, but it's not just for
known_hosts.)
It would be fantastic if CIDR notation/matching for IPv4 and IPv6
address prefixes could be supported in "Host" matchers for ssh_config
and for the host matching in (ssh_)known_hosts.
I bumped into th...
