Wiki Page Proposal
...ormation is useful enough
to warrant posting sooner rather then later.
I have already posted information up on the HP Forums in the hopes it would
help others who go there for help but I think the material would be better
served off a wiki.

I can understand if it doesn't currently meet the standards set forth by the
group. I do plan on cleaning it up and expanding on the information as best
I can.
Thank you for your time and consideration,

Hello.
>From time to time, my Samba 3.0.2a server on a HP-UX 11.00 server sends the
following messages to the syslog:

What's the meaning?

which suggested to increase tcp_conn_request_max (it was at 20 and is now
at 4096), however the ITRC entry had something to do with inetd. It also
suggested that the server might be too overloaded and doesn't react quickly

Windows Host Blue-Screening.
I am VERY new to using Xen, and I am having some issues with hosting Windows
guests.
Lets break it down.
I am running Xen, on a Dell Optiplex 745 desktop with a single integrated
NIC that is hosting two Windows 2003 Server standard edition SP 2 each
configured with 2 NICs. The original image was configured and setup, and
then cloned through the UI.
The issue I am experiencing now is the two

HPUX and privsep
...1p1)
Seems the mm_xxxx_() functions arent called when
PrivSep is off. The utmpx line field isnt filled in
correctly (loginrec.c:line_abbrevname() - easy to
fix) but doenst seem to affect these problems.
This was found on HP's site with no solution :

Something mentioned was a change in logname to use
getsid() instead of getlogin().
Doesn't solve the 3.8.1 problem of no login.

Failure to connect to mpSSH Server
...ded some time ago
(http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/src/usr.bin/ssh/compat.c.diff?r1=1.39&r2=1.40),
but since there are no entries for mpSSH in the check-array this fails.
Here is the link to the post in HPs support forum which led me to
compat.c:

Could someone please add the following entry to the check-array in
compat.c:
{ "mpSSH_*", SSH_BUG_BIGENDIANAES },
Is there a way to scan for these compatability-bugs to get a complete
list to include?

HOWTO - Install HP PSP On CentOS 5
...today I kept notes on my adventures in installing the HP
Proliant Support Pack software on my server running CentOS 5.5.
It's a rough guide but I have posted it up in the HP Support forums in the
hopes that it will help others who take on this task.
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1436465
I have also submitted a request to add a wiki page on the CentOS wiki so I
can post the guide and work on cleaning it up.
I am unsure if it'd be a good idea to post it to the mailing list due to
it's length.
If you have feedback or questions please let me know,

OT iSCSI best practices
Hi,
I have an HP MSA 2000i as SAN (iSCSI) and since I'm starting with SANs,
I'm seeking for advice. We are currently using HP Proliant 380 G5 + MSA
70 (SAS, direct-attached storage) for our production servers.
At first, I thought I'd be using the SAN only for non-critical
operations, like temporary additional storage for disk-based backups and
snapshots, so I planned on using

...the case. VT-D is not enabled.
I would really like to find the cause for this. I don''t know if this is a
BIOS bug or what. This board is supposedly supported on Xen per the VT-D
wiki. Other people seem to have the same problem as me:

The BIOS version I use may be not the exact one as yours. I mean I expect
you''re
not using a very old BIOS. :-)

bad I/O performance with HP Smart Array RAID
Hi all,
I discovered lately that two of my XEN servers suffer from a really
bad disk throughput - in domU as well as in dom0. All of them run
Debian/Etch, Kernel 2.6.18-6-xen (orig. Debian) with XEN 3.2 (backported).
The software versions seem to be ok for most machines:
Lenovo A57 with S-ATA and (E8200, VT enabled): up to 90MB/s
Shuttle, FB61 based, ATA-Disk (Celeron, no VT): up to

Print jobs hang in Samba, don't go to UNIX spooler
I have encountered a strange printing problem with Samba 2.2.4 running under
HP-UX 11i.
In the process of investigating a printing problem, I have found that Samba
has stopped passing jobs along to the UNIX lp spooler as of yesterday
afternoon.
When NT/W2K clients print to printers on my server, the jobs are accepted,
Samba
spool files are created in the spool directory defined for the printer
