VT-d with Supermicro MBD-X10SAE-O
Hi all, I''m having difficulty getting VT-d to work correctly with a new Supermicro MBD-X10SAE-O in QubesOS <http://qubes-os.org/trac>, and I''m hoping someone here might be able to help me (or at least shed some light on my situation). A Qubes developer suggested I contact this list. Here''s my HCL post from the qubes-users group <https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!f...

Can't run KVM Virtual Machines on a Gluster volume
I just built a 2 node(4 bricks), Distributed-Replicated and everything mounts fine. Each node mounts using GlusterFS client on its hostname (mount -t glusterfs hostname:VOLUME /virtual-machines) When creating a new Virtual Machine using virt-manager it creates the file on the storage, but when trying to power it On, it doesn't work and gives back an error message.(See below. Yes the folder has

RAID options for Gluster
I think this discussion probably came up here already but I couldn't find much on the archives. Would you able to comment or correct whatever might look wrong. What options people think is more adequate to use with Gluster in terms of RAID underneath and a good balance between cost, usable space and performance. I have thought about two main options with its Pros and Cons No RAID (individual

S3 testing, etc
I had an off-list discussion with George Dunlap yesterday, who suggested that it might be helpful to have an ability to test the S3 functionality in a bit more of an end-to-end fashion, and possibly introduce an ability to do all of the S3 related things without actually putting the machine to sleep. Attached is a very simple patch to xen that introduces a command line argument

VT-d Problem with Xen
Dear Xen Developers, I installed Qubes OS using Xen Hypevisor on my PC which contains an Intel i5 750 Processor. In BIOS the VT-d support is enabled, but while booting my system xen crashes. I already tried the boot parameters iommu=pv and iommu=workaround_bios_bug, but without any improvement. The message xen shows when crashed is:...

drive to standby after idle timeout?
I'd like to to put the hard drives in standby mode during periods of no activity. I'm just running a file server plus a couple small things on a Qube 3 from home, although the web stuff will increase it's still minimal. On my NetBSD systems I can use atactl to do this via: mount -u -o async, noatime, nodevmtime / mount -u -o async, noatime /usr atactl wd0 setidle 5 [wait a time]

High CPU temp, suspend problem - xen 4.1.5-pre, linux 3.7.x
...n: sched_creadit: improve picking up the idle CPU for a VCPU"), with reverted commit "Introduce system_state variable." But the same problem on vanilla xen 4.1.2. Linux 3.7.6 - happens almost every boot. On Linux 3.7.4 happens much rarer (but still occurs). Kernel config: http://git.qubes-os.org/gitweb/?p=marmarek/kernel.git;a=blob;f=config-pvops;h=a6e953f71cdc84556571b592b8af87a5a4f9a8d0;hb=HEAD I''ve tried some bisect from 3.7.4 to 3.7.6, but without success because problem isn''t 100% reproducible. Network isolation - PCI passthrough question
Hello, I thinking about using PCI passthrough to dedicated a domU as firewall. I understand PCI passthrough concept. When done, my domU will see network card and the dom0 won''t any more. So I''ll be able to filter all trafic from outside, since it will go through network domU. Then, how will I be able to connect other domU (and maybe dom0) to the network domU ? In a normal way,

According to one Qubes OS user report[1], the bug was introduced between version, which differs only by XSA-155 patches (including one for pciback), especially not XSA-157. Maybe on some code path, some value is not copied back to pdev->sh_info->op? [1] https://groups.google.com/d/msgid/qubes-devel/e64792c5-b9af-...

Backup problems resolved!
Guys, I've been searching for a Windows based backup solution for the SAMBA shares on my Linux server (a Cobalt Qube) since last November, trying both Seagate Backup Exec and ARCserve but with no success. I've been monitoring this list and tried most of the suggestions, but nothing came close. I'm pleased to say that I've found a solution that works for me ... Dantz have

Sun finally ships Samba as standard on Solaris 9
Well you won't find them shouting about it, but if you dig down in their web pages on Solaris 9 you'll find this : "Common Linux applications, such as Samba, Apache, Linux (GNU) commands, etc., are included in the Solaris 9 Operating Environment. The Solaris Software Companion CD has an even more comprehensive set of free software." So I guess that means we made it onto the OS

Installing opensshd on Sun Cobalt Linux, shell interpreter issue
I have just installed openssh on my Sun Cobalt Qube, running Linux. The shell interpreter for the rc script forces /sbin/sh. This is defined in opensshd.init.in. This shell does not exist on this implementation of Linux. I have written about this in (much more) detail at http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/DaveLevy/20060104. NB This would seem to me to be a common problem but I havn't found
