Permissions for share
opensuse 10/find / samba-3.0.20b-3.3
I'm trying to change directory permissions on a share so all users can modify files in the share and when I do as suggested in Ch15 of Samba Howto the following happens
$ find `directory_name' -type d -exec chown nobody:users {}\;
find: missing argument to `-exec'

net drive mapping not working in login script
I've set the path for each user in pdbedit and created a login script with drive mapping etc etc
The network drives aren't being mapped when I login each user:
smb.conf
[global]
printcap name = cups
cups options = raw
map to guest = Bad User
# include = /etc/samba/dhcp.conf
logon path = \\%L\profiles\.msprofile
logon home = \\%L\%U\.9xprofile

nbdkit / exposing disk images in containers
KubeVirt is a custom resource (a kind of plugin) for Kubernetes which
adds support for running virtual machines. As part of this they have
the same problems as everyone else of how to import large disk images
into the system for pets, templates, etc.
As part of the project they've defined a format for embedding a disk
image into a container (unclear why? perhaps so these can be

Re: URGENT: OCFS2 hang - 32 node cluster POC
Run:
# top
# vmstat 1
# iostat -x /dev/emcpowerb 1
The latter two you can save to a file. For top, just monitor cpu usage
and see if any process is hogging all of it.

Retry: Mapping AD domain users to UNIX users
I posted this last week but haven't heard anything. I'm not sure if this
is because nobody knows the answer (can't believe that!) or I'm missing
something obvious in the documentation and people are thinking "Read The
Fine Manual". Whatever the reason, if anyone has any insights into this
problem I'd be very grateful for their comments.

R unable to access internet to install packages
Hi,
I am having some trouble trying to install a number of packages in R on my work computer. An example of the code I am using is as follows:

An example of the error messages I am getting is:

Performance issues: have eliminated disk and network as cause
Hi,
I'm not entirely happy with the performance I'm seeing using Samba, and I
wonder if anyone can shine any light.
The server is a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with hardware RAID10, 4GB RAM and a
quad-core Intel Xeon processor. It's not live yet, so there's no load from
other tasks.
I've already eliminated the RAID (able to sustain 130-140MB/s for
reads/writes) and the network

Openvpn and samba: play nice together?
You definetly need a TAP connection to make samba work over VPN. We use OpenVPN host2net-accounts created with IPCop here since quite a while and it works with samba without problems. However, the speed is of course not as fast as in local net, but this is rather related to the way the SMB-protocoll works. ;-)

DC Upgrade from 4.1.7 to 4.6.7
I did a similar DC upgrade from 4.1.13 to 4.6.6(like your option 1,
upgrade on existing AD servers, I have two, first upgrade on none-FSMO).
and I don't have any issues with the DC upgrade itself.
But be careful with your member servers. After the upgrade, I have to
change some default values on file servers:
1. samba 3.5.10 member server(rpm from CentOS 6.2) lost connection to
