rspec hangs when used with QtRuby
Hello to everyone
I''m having trouble using RSpec to test code which uses QtRuby (both version 3
and 4).
I noticed that, after upgrading from RSpec 1.0.5 to RSpec 1.0.8, some of my
specs which used QtRuby caused spec (or rake, when used from a Rakefile) to
hang indefinitly. After a bit of investigation, I found that the problem
arose in the following situation:
* requiring Qt4 / Qt3

Fwd: Rapid GUI Development with QtRuby
Just in case some of you missed it, Pragmatic Programmers just published
their first of a series of short, PDF-only books. This one is on qtRuby.
It would be great to have something like this for wxRuby. I don''t think
wxRuby is quite ready to this (yet), but I thought I''d plant the idea.

QtRuby
Hello,
Has anyone tested QtRuby? I''m doing a small OpenGL application
http://www.discretizer.org and just want to know the arguments for
staying with fxruby.
This is what I have discovered:
Pros:
-Fxruby seems to have a very nice OpenGL support (FXGLViewer) which is
what I really need.
-Nice looks. No unnecessary theming support.
-Very fast and light on system resources.
Cons:
-No

Qt client with rails? Does it make sense?
Hi,
A quick question from a beginner: does it make sense to build the UI of a rails application with Qt, instead of bulding a web application? The idea would be to reuse parts of rails (like ActiveRecords) to write the logic on the server, and build the (complex) UI faster, with a client-based framework.
On the client, ruby *could* be used too, since QtRuby exists.

[Fwd: Re: FXRuby or wxRuby?]
This was just posted on ruby-talk. I''d hate to let this go without any
rebuttal or explanation. Can someone (more qualified than me) please
compose a response?
Thanks,
Curt

Luke does not work with Ferret indexes?
Hey,
Luke doesn''t seem to be able to open a Ferret index I''ve created. Is
this expected?
If yes, can someone recommend another index inspection tool?
Thanks,
John

Bug? in wxSugar enumerable_controls.rb
Hi,
I wanted to use wxSugar enumerable features to add a method for
returning checked items'' index to the CheckListBox class :
require ''wx_sugar/version''
require ''wx_sugar/wx_classes/control_with_items''
require ''wx_sugar/wx_classes/listctrl''
class Wx::CheckListBox
def checked_items

Moving On
Cross-posted to the blog (at
http://lylejohnson.name/blog/2010/08/04/moving-on/):
When Jamis Buck wrote last year about ceasing development on
Capistrano, his post really struck a chord with me. If this post
reminds you of that one, it''s because I re-read it before sitting down
to compose this one. It was the next best thing to having Jamis on
hand to give me a pep talk before I had to
