Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-350 card on CentOS 4.X?
Anyone have the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-350 card running on CentOS 4.X?
What about MythTV? One of my users asked me today to upgrade the
kernel on his CentOS 4.4 system today as he claims that this card
will only work on recent kernels (2.6.16 or newer). I haven't found
any documentation to support this (the Linux page on...

Unable to authenticate on Dovecot - auth-userdb issue?
Some general information:
Mageia Linux 5.4.6-desktop-2.mga7
2.3.7.2 (3c910f64b)
postfix + dovecot + mysql
192.168.1.105 (shuttle) the email server machine
192.168.1.103 (pvr) the mail client machine
I am unable to authenticate to send email. I've looked at postfix but I can't get past dovecot's authentication. Here is what I'm seeing in logs:

issue with ivtv & wctdm zaptel drivers (TDM PCI Master abort)
Hi,
I'm experiencing an issue with my x86_64 machine containing a Hauppauge
PVR-500 (ivtv) and a Digium TDM400p (wctdm, part of zaptel) PCI cards.
Independently of each other both cards work fine, but once the wctdm driver
is loaded and mythtv tries to record something on the PVR-500 the wctdm
driver freaks out. The error message is see is "TDM PCI Master abort"

[ZFS-USAGE] Quary for ZFS
I?m an engineer working for NDS in Korea and We?re looking for PVR file system solutions to enhance PVR platforms from NDS. And we are checking for ZFS about portability, performance, etc for PVR set-top-boxes.
I?d appreciate if you could forward this e-mail to a contact for querying ZFS in Sun.

Feature request: Store diffed files separately.
...r ./source/ ./dest/
Day 2: Diff the contents of ./source/ and ./dest/ and store only the
new/modified files in ./incremental_day1
Day 3: Diff the contents of ./source/ and ./dest/ and store only the
new/modified files in ./incremental_day2
etc.
This way to restore a backup of Day 2 just do: rsync -Pvr
./incremental_day2 ./dest/ # But make the updates to ./source/ instead
so you can preserve existing backups. Does this make sense? I
thought something like this might be useful since your on-going
incremental backups aren't storing unchanged files again which will
save space.

Your router is probably sharing the USB drive as a standalone server
with guest access, it also very probably using a very old version of
Samba.
You need to obtain and read the m...

Uncommented the section on userdb that was commented because it was throwing errors. It?s still throwing an error. Specifically this one:

Video Recording
Hi,
I would like to record some training/advertising videos, in a similar
format to those offered by CBT Nuggets (and others). Essentially this
means I need to be able grab real video (e.g. webcam or DV camcorder,
etc) as well as what is on the computer screen (VNC Recorder maybe) and
audio.
In terms of output I would like it to be in Ogg Theora format as these
seems to be supported both on

Newbie question: X101P card - Asterisk - /dev/dsp0
...nstalled my X101P card with * from the source on
Mandrake 10.0 and I test it. Everything seems to work fine. When I call
at my home office all the demo ivr seem to work. But I have one question
regarding * using /dev/dsp0. I only have one sound card on my system and
it has to be use by my personnal PVR called MythTV. I though that * did
not need a sound card to work. All I need from * is the ivr/cti function
and the answering mailbox system (and maybe the fax option someday). Does
anybody could help me on that ? Does * really need /dev/dsp0 to work ?
Here is the lsof output when * is running:

Please help with configuration (Drake Drake)
Hello Drake,
I am doing the same... Spanish TV to my UK home, and UK TV to my Spanish home, using Kodi and TVHeadend!!It works really well, but find that I need powerful PCs running Kodi/PVR-HTS to prevent buffering.
The Tinc VPN does not filter ports - all ports are available at each end. Since you're likely to be behind NAT this is safe.
The port numbers 9981 and 9982 are only needed in the PVR-HTS Addon within Kodi, assuming you're starting TVHeadend with the defaults.
It to...

Kernel panic in DomU when using swiotlb=force option
I'm trying to get a PVR-150 PCI card imported into a Xen DomU, however
the driver blows up the kernel when loaded. The work around for this
mentioned in various places is to use swiotlb=force on the DomU kernel.
That leads to a fast and furious kernel panic. I've tried this with all
Dom0 & DomU running kernel-...
